Hi I would like to know how do you establish excatly what category to put a story in, I have my first story and I want to put it up I already have a poem but this is my first story, and I'm not sure what category. is there any guide lines and such?

Well I don't know if there are any actual guidelines out there but I know the category problem well! I often think my stories could fit several different categories,in which case I tend to get someone ot read it through for me and see what they think as to what category it should go in,then go from there!

Yeah, Categories are a problem, and there's no easy solutiuon. And what makes it worse is that the more original and sophisticated the story is, the less likely it is to fit in any of the standard categories.

I take the fatallistic approach. I figure any story of mine will be read while it's in the "new" category, and then it's going to just sink below the waves anyhow, so category doesn't matter that much.

I try to see if my story has anything in it that would fit into one of the established categories, even if that thing in pretty incidental to the story, and I'll put it there.

I also use "Romantic Couplings" as meaning "everything else", because isn't sex by nature romantic? And even if there's a dozen people involved, isn't there still a "coupling"?

Your hair pulling and biting might be good to list in "keywords" too, for those who do use the search function.

yeah thats what I was thinking "erotic coupling" was told romance but I dont consider it that romantic my story lol

but yes I suppose your right. Sex in general is "romantic" brings people closer even if not in a serious relationship.
its natural. OK OK some is a little less natural when it comes to having accessories to sex LOL not so natural then but still.

While a story may have elements that fit many categories, they also, usually, have one central theme that ties everything together -- that's the category the story fits.

There is also the "rule of least offense" to consider if you're concerned about how a story will score. If your story contains anything that people feel strongly about -- incest, nonconsent, Male/Male, etc -- then put your story in a category where such content might reasonably be expected regardless of which category fits better. An incestuous romance belongs in the incest category because Romance fans will get "squicked" and vote low if they encounter incest where they don't expect it.

The rule really only applies when there's something that might be offensive to some segment of the readership that feels strongly about their "squicks" and if you care about the low votes that reaction generates.

I don't think hair pulling and biting are offensive, but there is probbly someone out there that will see those activities as "demeaning women" or some other PC catch-phrase.

The simple fact that your story is erotic is going to offend some people -- apparently there are some creatures who come here and vote down every story because they feel guilty about getting turned on by them. <shrugs>

I just realized I think I Am gonna offend quiet alot of people with my story LOL some people dont think people with disabilities should have sex and be happy with a partner oh well lol

well hehe I am going to fix up my story and improve it some since I had written it for my BF to appeal to him .Reason I did it was his being bothered he was upset that I dont initiate anything and that hes always the one doing so and that he just cant do this all the time and thta it makes him feel unwanted pathietic and un needed. so I wrote him a story trying my hardess to be more agreesive, I always knew he liked agreesive girls but I'm very shy lol
well all he said was "I like it, its a start" so if he wont appreciate it figured others might lol
