Well I should start off by saying that yes, I'm new to posting here. I've got my first story waiting for approval with several chapters ready for upload afterwards. So hi.

That said, I've been thinking over a variety of stories and one thing that has gotten to me is I'm not sure how to classify them. For example I have two halloween themed stories in mind, and both have to deal with gender bending in a sense.

The first story has the man character, a male, putting on a costume and being magically turned female.

The second story is about a female character who gets 'cursed' with a nice set of male genetalia.

Thinking about these stories, I realized that I'm not certain what catergory I would put down for their main theme. Transsexuals & Crossdressers seemed the obvious choice, but the more I think about it the more it might be misleading. I know that when I see a story tagged with that theme as being the main one, I think of actual crossdressing and actual trannies, not something more 'oddball' like my ideas.

So then would they be Sci-fi/Fantasy? Fetish? Maybe even Taboo? This is so much easier with my strap on story, it goes right in with the Toys catergory.

That's funny. I was just asking this question about a strap-on story.

I think I'd put the other two you mentioned in the Transsexuals & Crossdressers category like you said but I'm not a crossdresser and maybe they'd feel differently. How about trying one there and one in Sci-Fi and see which one does better?

Welcome to AH! This is a common problem among us writers, deciding on a category. I don't think that putting these stories in Transexual & Crossdresser, however, would be misleading--as they are MEN who get to be women, and many transexual readers are interested in that topic. Most stories show men getting to be women by dressing or with medical help, but this is a true fantasy. With a bit of magic, they get their wish.

Remember that you don't just get a category. You get a title and a tag-line. So you can tell you reader what they're going to be getting. Title: "Magically Transformed" for example, and tag-line: [/i]He gets made into a woman for a day.[/i]

Thus, you don't mislead the reader at all.

The only other category might be sci-fi and fantasy. It really doesn't fit into taboo.

Listen to 3, she knows her stuff. And welcome to the AH. Enjoy the ride and good luck with your stories. Don't forget to add a link to your sig line so we can all check them out when they come up. :rose:

Welcome to AH. Lit's categories are bizarre and frankly suck, in my opnion, but the site is superior in ever other way, so whad'dya gonna do?

Have fun posting stories and discoursing on AH. You may want to hunt down the recent thread, "Warning to first time authors." It will provide you with the useful information that your life as a normal human is about to end.

Again, Welcome.
