I was just wondering what you all thought of the category system on Lit. I think it serves its purpose, providing a broad subject for the reader to select when deciding on a story. But I recently got two criticisms (on two different stories, but still) on stories that I felt should be classified in a certain way and the readers (I'm guessing) disagreed.
One person said I should "find your delete key" because he or she thought I was posted a story about bi-sexual women as "lesbian sex." There was a man in the story, but he won't really enter the picture until the second chapter. All intimate contact in the first story was between two women.
The other complaint was that I had a black man and a white woman having sex in a "group sex" story. The person sent me an e-mail saying he or she would not read any more of my stories because I should have submitted it as "interracial." The person called the story "filth" because of the interracial aspect, when it was secondary to the main plotline to the story. I just thought I would mix it up a little bit.
Am I wrong, or aren't the categories meant to define the crux of the story and not every aspect of it. It seems like my stories always have a little mix and cannot be classified as just one type of story.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
