So I haven't posted in the AH in well... probably years now, but I'm back to writing so I guess I can poke my head in here again. And as luck would have it, I have an actual authorly question.

I just uploaded the next part of my latest story (Changed Redux, which is actually a redo of my Changed series which was submitted under another pen name) and I submitted it under the MC category which is my usual haunt and where the other sections of the story are. However, the admin changed it to Incest/Taboo. This chapter does have incest in it but it's primarily MC (at least I think so).

So I guess my question would be, does this matter? I've never written in the Taboo category so I'm not sure what kind of reception a Lesbian MC story will get there. Especially since the incest part isn't till the last 20% of a 23,000 word story. Also, I'm wondering if the regular readers of the MC cat will even find it there?

I PMed Manu about the change but haven't heard back.

Thoughts?

Incest supersedes pretty much any other topic. The slightest hint of it categorizes it in I/T on Lit. And for good reason. Most of us really don't want to read about incest, and would probably get annoyed if what seems like a good story at first turns into a family fuck fest after a few pages. So I'd suggest trusting the site owner's decision on this one.

Laurel overruled Mind Control for Incest? On a middle chapter? That's unusual.

You actually need to PM Laurel, not Manu. Manu is the technical side of the site. Laurel is the one who deals with approving stories.

I would certainly follow through with that PM, explaining how little of the chapter and the story has incest content, and that the overall theme of Mind Control should overrule it.

I contributed to that How-To LOL

From the How-To:

Exempt Categories

Exempt categories means you can put what you want in them, as long as they fit the category guidelines. These categories can have elements of any and all the other categories, and if you choose to make it fit an exempt category, that's where it goes. The exempt categories are:

1) How-To
2) Reviews & Essays
3) Celebrities
4) Illustrated
5) Chain Stories
6) Novel and Novellas
7) Humor and Satire
8) Text With Audio
9) Sci-Fi & Fantasy
10) Erotic Horror
11) Non-Human
12) Mind Control
13) Letter and Transcripts
14) Non-Erotic
15) Non-English

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was kind of under that same impression that MC was kind of an exempted category since it so often crosses bounds. I know I have read alot of other stories in that category with incest in them so the change was kind of surprising.

I did send a PM to Laurel so I'll see where it goes. It's just disappointing to spend 2 months pounding out 23,000 words only to have the category you were writing it for changed at the last minute. I know other readers may find it there but how many people really shop across categories that often?
