I don't want to argue, but I'm going to contradict you here. The first chapter of Alina's Game has a 4.4 rating. That isn't -bad- but I'm assuming it's considerably worse than you deserve... I've read your work, and I know your talent level.

Your story is a multi-part story and after the first chapter, the ratings improve back to where I assume they belong.

If Joy's story is stand alone, he won't get the chance to improve the ratings. Just a thought. Of course, chasing ratings is a fools errand, but it's something most of us do regardless.

Feel free, I'm always good for another pov. If I may proffer contra evidence to your point, looking at my H record, you'd notice that AG01, High Life 07 and Only Consenting Adults 03 all dip below the mean, as did Oxygen Games 06 initially with the cock cage episode, and then the ratings come back up in the next chapter. In each case, the MMC is subjugated in some way. Other episodes where the FMC is subjugated rate as well as the mean if not higher. It's not NC/R specific, in any category there are particular tropes that you cross without forewarning at your peril. Goes back to my point that you need to give a heads up if you're trying to dodge the squick reaction and accompanying 1 bombs.

As for why certain things bring the 1 bombs when flipping the sexes and playing a similar move doesn't... well, we've all figured that out by now, yeah? That's a much broader observation on the population.
