I'm working on a story right now that's a bit of a grab bag of genres, and I'm hoping that the more experienced among you can help me out.

In the first half of the story, a boy hacks a girl's webcam, watches her masturbate, then watches her and her girlfriend have sex. Things make a shift in the second half of the story, though, when the boy and girl have sex, then the boy, girl, and her girlfriend all end up in bed together. At it's core, it's a story about a voyeur, but the plot evolves beyond that.

I know that there are some things that will get a story automatically rerouted into a category other than the one it was submitted to, like a gay male or a BDSM scene. I have very little experience in the Exhibitionist & Voyeur category, so it'd be awesome if those who know more than I do can tell me if I'm gonna run into any hiccups.

Thanks!

I have written some exhibitionist stories, including stories with other elements in them, such as Loving Wives-type elements.

My impression is that it's a fairly flexible category, and if you choose it your choice likely will be honored unless the story contains elements that tend to cause stories automatically to be routed into other categories, like incest.

Ask yourself what kind of reader will be most attracted to your story, and then put the story in that category, unless there's a more popular category for it. Exhibitionism is middle of the road in terms of popularity and number of viewers.

In my experience, the EV readers are quite accepting. One if my EV stories won the 2016 readers award for that category, and it included lots of bdsm and LW themes. And lesbian stuff. And another story of mine placed second in the nude day contest, and that one had a lot of group sex and some lesbian twists too. I sometimes put a warning in the begining so readers who just want to read about expised nudity can wander elsewhere.

I don't want to say I'm experienced but it could well fit into N&N as long as there are none of the 'special' categories you mentioned. That's what I did with my Romance/Interracial/Bondage/Group Sex story.
But the readers of N&N expect several 10-thousand words (over all chapters).

Sorry, but I consider that highly unethical and of course it is illegal. Not something I would promote (write) or read (condone/support).

Unless the worthless sniveling nosey little punk somehow got his comeuppance.

The same goes for a big part of the stories on this site... Incest, non-con, ...

But I like the quote on your homepage: Just another Fucking observer. If you don't like it, tough.

I think the central scene or theme that you write about is going to dictate your actual genre.

So, it starts with webcamming, the kid hacking in and watching. That's acceptable as EV as long as it rolls back to that again at some point later in the story.

If you get completely away from the voyeur edge of the story, you may lose the audience a bit. Another poster said the EV crowd is accepting and the definition of the category is flexible. EV can be a good catch-all. It simply depends on where the majority of the focus of your story lays.

Categorization is really about what's the core kink to your story. What does everything pivot on? What's the core desire of the protagonist?

My question isn't about what category to put it in, but whether a specific category will accept it. Inclusion of certain content in your story will force it into categories other than what you submitted it to. I've already picked a category; I was just looking for a heads up on whether the mods would allow me to use the category (or as much heads up as you an get on these things).

Usually the Site Ed will put a story in the category selected by the writer, unless a) she reckons it will run better in another category; or b) contains trump category elements - which is similar to a), but not always.

You can also ask for a story to be re-categorised, if feedback and/or change of mind suggests a new home might be better.

Having written a few E & V stories, I get the feeling that the audience here at Lit is for 'show offs' and lucky peeps. I don't get the feeling that it's a 'rough and tumble' category. I may be wrong, but I'm not sure that 'hacking' is in the spirit.

I've put stories with gangbangs and spanking etc in EV when the primary theme is about flaunting or similiar. And those stories have done well.
