That's a tricky one, isn't it? I am on the other end - have novella, trying to decide whether to break to chapters or not.

One thing to consider is that you can edit your submissions. If you'd like to post to "Novella" and it's not there now, you can always add the rest and then re-post to "Novella."

Sometimes the category-change fairies are kind, however. I submitted my story "Letters from the Hesperus" under "Letters and Transcripts," and was surprised to see it moved to "Gay Male." However, I am grateful, in the end - it's had thousands more views than anything I posted in "Letters and Transcripts." Perhaps there is a higher purpose.

If you requested a category change at the same time you requested the edit, the editors might have missed the category change request entirely. It happens, sometimes, with so many stories being submitted each day.

Your best option is probably to PM Laurel and specifically request the category change.
