Okay so I've been writing this damned story for a *long* time. Almost a year, if not more than a year...It's not that it's frustrating me, just that I'm taking my time with it, writing in bursts, editing over and over to make it flow better and make more sense, get what I mean?

Anyways as I keep writing it I'm wondering different things, and one of which is whether or not I ought to place it in the "incest" category.

Elements in the story are Incest (between two sisters their mother and their "uncle") BDSM and some NonConsent (they give their consent later) and G/G action.

Plus sides to putting it in incest (I think) are that there are definitely more reads for Incest stories. But I'm wondering if Incest readers are looking for just erotic coupling between relations or if they mind other elements? Personally I don't like BDSM, Lesbian, or Non-Consent stories between relatives.

Chicklet,

If you take a look through the Incest Index you will see that many stories their include, Non-Consent, and GG elements.

From your synopsis I would say that the story will sit well in the Incest category - I have enjoyed your stories so mail me when this one appears.:)

ok thanks = ) while you wait here's a link to the story idea i'm writing it from: (guess it hasn't been a year quite yet) "An incest fantasy I'd like to read"

warning, Jon...it might take another ten months to finish.

Thanks for the advice - I haven't read many if any incest stories.

depends what predominates and how you want readers to react. I wrote " Getting Old Sucks" in the mature category, although the idea I started from was labelled " mature incest", because I was afraid to turn away those readers who just won't read incest on principle. I figured my story was more maturre than incest, and the surprise twist would work. It is a popular story in hits and scores, although less hits than I think most incest stopries get.
I won't read non-consent unless I know the author. I seldom read lesbian or bdsm, unless the title description, author or my mood that day is odd. But I digress....

I think if its an incest story with other elements, put it in incest, but be prepared for some negative reaction. If the other twists dominate, go there, perhaps with a " warning this story includes sex between family members" at the beginning.

The chicken way out, Chicklet, would be to attach a little note to Laurel when you submit it, asking her what she thinks would be best.

CHICKLET How could you be so cruel? 10 !!! TEN MONTHS - The wait will be a torment

After the preview on that thread I know I have to read the story.

;) I won't hold my breath!!!

If family members are having sex, it goes into incest. If you choose to stick it elsewhere, it will generally still go into incest. It may be the most popular category, but as far as non-incest fans goes, incest ranks right up there with violent rape on the offend-o-meter.

Garderobes and The Worst Chain Story Ever Chapter 01 seem to rate high on the offend-o-meter as well even though neither feature incest or violent rape.

Where can I get one of these offend-O-meters? I need one for my real life. Is there a difference between the U.K. and American kind; i.e., like miles and kilos?

Offend-o-meters are KillerMuffin's invention, but yes there is a considerable difference between UK and US meters.

UK ones do not register smoking in public.

C**p is seen as a basic comedy thread.

Sexism is still rampant - for both sexes.

Political correctness registers high as being offensive unless intentionally self-parodying e.g Manholes are still manholes because an ardent feminist said that "Manholes should not be named personholes unless women express an overwhelming desire to climb down into sewers and shovel shit."

The Chairman of a meeting or a Board of Directors can be female and can be addressed as "Chairman" or "Madam Chairman" without offence.

Carry-On films and the Benny Hill Show are still funny and not offensive.

There are actors and actresses, and jokes about what the actress said to the Bishop.

To conclude, the UK version barely registers many things that would send the US version off the scale.

Offend-o-meter is just a figure of speech, Og. I'm, quite frankly, shocked that I'd have to point that out to you. Of course, you think I'm the evil forces of moderator doom looking to take over the Hangout so I shouldn't be surprised at your, shall we say, faulty observational skills.

The simple fact is that, in the past, readers into violent rape will become vocally offended if the rape happens between relatives where incest readers will usually just back-click out of a story that has content they don't like.

Logically, I suppose, people who enjoy the violent rape of 13-year-old sisters should be cool, mellow, and imperturbable, nothing raising their ruckles or offending their sensibilities.

Dismembering, cooking, and eating the sister... Oh wait, it's finally happened, I've grossed myself out. I wasn't sure that was possible.

Darn. Just when it was getting good.

I just have to add that personally I don't like incest...this story just turned out to have it included. Know what I mean?

My objections were:
- to you becoming Moderator of the AH by default;
- to having any Moderator;
- to having a Moderator who has a viewpoint that is to one side
or other of the current discussion which would disqualify you
AND me.

I have considerable respect for your activities as a moderator in the other boards, and your posts are worth reading. I disagree with you on one topic but that doesn't make you the evil forces of doom, just someone who is on the other side of the current debate.

I stand with Voltaire "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I don't actually go as far to "disapprove" of your arguments and if the debate actually reaches a conclusion I will abide by the decision of the majority as a good member of a democracy should.

Literotica is about Freedom of Speech. It says so in banners at the top of the header page. I think that the current proposal to moderate the Author's Hangout conflicts with that principle.

"Offend-o-meter" is not a figure of speech this side of the Atlantic. Useful though. There are significant differences in what is considered offensive in the UK compared with the US. There are differences between different parts of the UK. When we consider what is, or is not, offensive in France then we Brits get really confused. It might be a useful thread to start. What are the differences?

Offend-O-Meter

I'd love to have such an instrument. As DurtGurl, I often make it a point to try to offend everyone a little bit. If it's done in an easygoing manner, it makes it more interesting.

Personally, I'm not offended by anything but bigotry, stupidity, personal attacks, and the LA Dodgers.

hey,

you guys realise that this little break-off into an argument about moderation is why I want another category in the first place? Why should I open my thread up expecting to read advice and only read bickering?

Dear* Chicklet: I thought your question had been answered as fully as possible by KM - whatever you might have decided your story will go in the incest box. So I'm presuming the others above felt OK about rambling on in other directions.

AND, the above fun and wit is exactly why I and others do not want a moderator.

Like Ogg I will of course abide by what's decided, and at present have no further suggestions. But as we've been at odds on this I didn't want to make another joke and and tell you you're right. I don't think it's a matter of being right or wrong; we (the lot of us) simply have different opinions. Some of us brook discord better than others is all. Just saying.

No, if the thread has fulfilled its reasons for existance then I want it to die so that it doesn't keep sending me email messages about being answered. Fun and wit? I consider what just passed between KM and Og to be quite nasty.

Dear Chickie,
Firstly, why don't you turn off the EMail notification of replies to a thread to which you subscribed? Then all you have to do is make "AH" one of your "Favorites" and it eliminates going between your opening page and this site. It's easy. Only took me several months to figure it out.

Nextly, I thought your question about incest, etc. was very completely answered early on in the thread. Since there was no point in repeating the answers, and the thread was up and running, why not use it? Any harm done? I certainly can't see any.

KM and Og? I think it's fun to see two very intelligent people who have differing opinions and aren't intimidated by one another.

As I've said before, I love the easygoing anarchy of this site, and I hope it doesn't change.

I have noticed a decline in posts and interest here in the past couple of weeks. For me, it isn't as much fun as it was when the off the wall threads were going. If it wasn't for the bickering over changing the site and attempts to start and sustain chain stories, there would hardly be anything going on at all.

Whew.

Same here. I trust KM and Ogg to take care of themselves, I wouldn't dream of judging or interrupting their impressively adult exchange.

Unfortunately some of the few remaining things of interest here are becoming the AV and tag changes.

Perdita

I also no longer get the emails re. posts, or even subscribe to them; I just check the threads that interest me.

"Offend-o-meter" is not a nationally or internationally recognized figure of speech anywhere, you moron. I made it up. Please, show some wit sometime. It will stand you in better stead than this idiot routine of yours.
