Catching a Dewdrop (Closed for GypsyGirl84)

"And?" Megan asked as her and Tammany walked out of the Chicago branch of Monoc Securities.

"And we'll need to think it over. And discuss it with Jason," Tammany replied.

"What think?" Megan said as she and Tammany headed to a small bistro located not far from Monoc securities. "Jason would get everything he wants. We all get what we want. You get what you want. I bet even SHE gets what she wants!"

"Unless Jason dies," Tammany countered. "It's difficult to be appreciative when you're dead."

Megan shrugged. "So we talk to Jason. I'm sure he'll be happy with it. I just hope he doesn't get too worried when we don't show up to his house right away."

"The price of being a wizard or magically enhanced creature," Tammany responded. "You don't get to take advantage of modern telecommunications. I'm sure it will be no problem if we show up a few hours later than was expected.."

"We'll, we get to have a quick lunch while we wait for them to make the modification. I can't believe that they got the match so easily. Right year and everything. But I guess that's why he's Santa Claus," Megan added, clapping her hands together gleefully.

Tammany chose not to respond.

Jason drove very carefully, he was not about to get a ticket or risk his new license on a police check or risk even getting a scratch on Tammany's car. He made it down the highway easily and turned off, then sat a good way behind the car in front so as to avoid anything it kicked up from the road.

It took him a little longer to get home than it had for him and Megan to get to Chicago but eventually he found himself driving into his town then down his own street and into his driveway. He stopped near the small stand of saplings and looked and although he didn't see her clearly he thought he saw the face of a young woman looking at him.

"High my names Jason and I live in the house. If you ever want to come and introduce yourself or just come and say hi your more than welcome. We're having pizza tonight if that helps," he smiled. "Well I am a bit busy today so if you don't come and visit tonight I understand totally but I hope you don't mind if I come out sometime and visit you."

With that he drove down and parked the car in front of his house and walked inside. He needed to find out what he had in the fridge and cupboards to see if he had enough things to make dinner tonight.

Night came and no one, not wizard, not dewdrop fairy, not dryad and not more-than-slightly-deranged ecowarrior arrived at the doorstep of Jason's house.

It was just as the sun was rising the next day that there was a knock at Jason's door. Standing on the step was Tammany. She was dressed as she had left him, but there was a distinctly dark cast to her face. The kalis held in her right hand did nothing to lighten the mood.

As soon as Jason appeared at the door, Tammany said, "Follow me, and whatever you do, do not interfere. Either one of them could kick your ass without blinking an eye and, if you interfere, they will. Make no mistake about that."

Jason was more than worried. He had seen no evidence that the Fairies had been back since he had left, the Dryad had not visited although he was pretty sure that she wouldn't, and Tammany and Megan had not shown up at all.

He had prepared the beginnings of dinner last night but had left it all in the fridge and had spent the night pacing throughout the house. He was not too worried about the dewdrops. They had probably found something fascinating to watch or do,(probably some humans involved in *Sport*) and would turn up soon, but Megan and Tammany were another story.

He knew Megan was an excellent rider and with her enchantments could tackle anything on the road, but it only took one little unforeseen thing and even she could have an accident. Oh sure she would probably survive no problems but what about Tammany? She was not quite as durable as Megan and they had no way of contacting him.

He finally fell into an exhausted sleep in his chair at five in the morning and he felt like he had only closed his eyes when there was a knock on the door. He rushed to the door and when he saw Tammany he felt a huge rush of relief. However there was no Megan and the fact she was carrying a sword did nothing to alleviate his fears.

At her words he just nodded and shut the door behind him and followed her. He decided he had to trust her, but he would have a hard time holding himself back if Megan was in trouble no matter how powerful these people were.

The first odd thing that Jason might have noticed was that Megan's motorcycle had been modified. It was parked besides Tammany's Jaguar, and someone had bolted a World War II-style sidecar to it.

If Jason didn't notice it, he could be forgiven. For in front of his house was a thick patch of fog, that remained impenetrable, no matter how close you got to it.

"Your word," Tammany said forcefully, as she put the flat of her blade to his chest. "You will not interfere. Trust me when I say you will die if you interfere. It may even be by my hand. I do not doubt that you have training in some mundane art, but you do possess neither the martial nor the mystical training to defend yourself against me, against Megan or against her. So you can follow me, or you can wait here. But if you follow me, you can only watch, and not act. Is that understood?"

Jason was torn. This sounded very serious and he knew he would go with her, but he knew he would have to restrain himself and he was not quite sure if he could. Still he was also sure that Tammany and Megan would not let themselves be hurt without a very good reason so something big must be going on.

He also looked at Megan's bike. he had seen the sidecar bolted onto it and that proved something to him. If Megan had put that on her precious bike to allow Tammany to ride comfortably back here then she trusted the woman a lot. So who was he to argue?

"Fine I give you my Word, I will not interfere. However you two have a lot of explaining to do afterwards and if this looks as bad as I think it is going to I am going to really have harsh words with you."
