"Cat From Hell"

No... they are really a fairly dumb animal... They will just lean against you... if there's one behind you it will lean against you too... they are so big you can't move them and they crush the wind out of you.

Snake are really bad too. The non-poisonous ones will give you a nasty bite and their mouths are just filthy. You can get a terrible infection. The poisonous ones you just refuse to handle at all.

Same with birds. Their body temp is normally about 105 or so. Bugs won't grow in them but if you get pecked they will infect you with some nasty stuff.

And to think I used to love Animal Planet...

Aurora... people do this because the like animals. But they quickly learn that animals can be dangerous. Most of the time you are careful and no one (you or the animal) gets hurt. But sometimes it's unavoidable. And generally when someone gets hurt it's the human.

It's what has to be done to help the animals. They don't know what's happening. If anything, they just don't like what's being done to them and they just react. That's not bad or good. It's just their nature.

Working in a place like that you learn there are ways of protecting both of you. Like the cat in the video. He (an it is a Tom Cat) would be easy to handle. You close the doors so he can't escape. Throw a towel at him so he grabs it with his claws and drag him out onto the floor. Then you stomp your feet... bang a dust pan... anything to make him run. He'll run for about one minute then lay down tired and you can pick him up. Works with a Lion or any kind of cat. And nobody gets hurt.

I just couldn't see myself doing that. I'm fine with watching animals in documentaries, but even if the "When Animals Attack" scenarios are indeed rare, I still can't bring myself to care for them or even touch them most of the time. Needless to say, I don't have pets.

I'm also having a hard time imagining a lion caged in a regular Vet's office.

To be honest, Aurora, it's not something anyone does to make money. It's very hard work with few congrads.

I've had pets all my life until about 3 years ago. I used to get the cast offs, the sick that nobody thought would live. It's more a matter of having done my part than anything else

Yes... I've seen that a couple of times. It's rare though.

Did it pee everywhere to mark its territory?

I'm off to bed. I can't type anymore. Night. ;)

Animals are animals.

For the most part though, once you get used to them they are easier to work with than humans. They tend to react in predictable ways and you can be prepared.

I have been around animals all of my life. I have volunteered in an Animal Shelter. I have had several wild ones who have become pets. I understand them and they seem to understand me. (One of my cats right now is a wild one.)

Yes I have scars from them, hell if you'll recall I almost lost my foot to one not too long ago.

The video in question is to me disgusting and made by someone who didn't know how to handle an animal. I would love to see this person locked into a room with their camera with a cat I once lived with. Max would have shredded them. (Max was a 40 pound cat which was the result of crossbreeding between a Persian Shorthair and something else. Maybe a Bengal Tiger? He was snow white and loved to shred large dogs.)

Maybe I should move from treating humans to treating animals? At least they repsond when you make them well.

Cat

I had a Max cat once. Different color, and a lot smaller, but still just as vicious if you got on his wrong side. That cat loved me though. I miss my cats :(

The cat in the video was pissed off to begin with. Proper handling would have been to make the room quite and leave him alone.

The idiots who made the video were dead wrong by continuing the cat's irritation. It really isn't likely to have hurt the cat (it appears to be a fully grown, young male) but they made the cat impossible to handle for no reason other than their own stupid video.

OK, try to see it from the cat's perspective.

1) I am trapped in a strange place.
2) All around me there are sick or injured animals. [Just how did they get sick or injured???]
3) I have no water or any way to get water.
4) I have no food or any way to get food.
5) The have some sort of stange humna thing pointed at me. [Usually means pain. I got enough pain already!]
6) I told them I don't want them in my face.
7) OK, you want trouble, here is trouble!

The cat is too dumb to see that he is just causing himself trouble. Apparently the people are just as dumb or dumber. The car never went to school. What is the excuse for the people?
