Freaky Screaming Cat

I heard that this video was supposed to be funny, but I couldn't laugh at it. Instead I wondered if the cat had been previously abused, and if the camera (and the person behind it) was only adding fuel to the flames.

Are abused cats really "wild" like that? Could "Burger" (What kind of a name is THAT?) really be an insane feline or merely a victim of exploitation?

That's quite... Not right... I feel sorry for that cat.

We had a cat once when I was in 2nd grade ( somehow survived a journey in a semi delivering to the store my dad managed ) that had obviously been abused at some point. It eventually warmed to us, a little, but it sounded like Satan incarnate when it was scared or mad.

We probably had the only cat in existence that the mailman demanded be locked up when he was coming around. He must have looked like whoever abused it, because that crazy cat attacked him twice. Big old bruiser of a feline too, so I can see how it scared him. That furball brought down two fair-sized rabbits that I can remember. If you think finding birds and mice on your porch in the morning is disconcerting, try walking out to the bus and finding Thumper mauled in the driveway.

Come to think of it, our full-grown German Shepard was afraid of that cat too. The dog was restrained at night, and the cat free to roam. Makes me wonder now if the cat wasn't pulling a Foghorn Leghorn on the poor dog in the wee hours of the morning.

No Aurora,
When I worked as a Vet Tech I would see them like that. They just didn't want to be there. Also, we'd occasionally get a ferrel cat - they all acted like that.

So it wasn't necessarily slapped around?

It's obvious to me that cat wasn't happy being videoed or even approached by that woman. Sad. :( I agree, I think the person behind the camera was only adding fuel to the flames.

My uncle had a cat like that, rabbit-hunter and all. He was named, appropriately, "Rocky."

That's a disgusting video. I don't find it funny at all, or what I could watch of it. That's an abused animal or a feral wild cat, I suspect feral though. They hate humans.

I disliked that woman for sticking the camera (a foreign, scary object) into the cat's face and then mocking its hostile reaction. I think there was a second person laughing along, as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the cat was teased by these assholes before, sans camera.

No. Not at all. But can you imagine having to stick your hand in there to grab the sucker? I've had more than one crawl up my arm with teeth and claws... Still have scars.

Agreed. The best thing is to leave them alone and let them calm down. They become almost handleable.

I didn't mean slapped around by the camera bitch, I meant by someone before the cat got locked up wherever the video takes place.

(Pet adoption center? Vet's office? )

It looks like a Vet Hospital Ward. They are dangerous places btw. I have stories... :(

An example? :catroar:

One afternoon I had a mean St Bernard who got loose and was running around the place. I finally got a lasso on him and he took off running. He ended up dragging me down a flight of stairs around the room... up two flights of stairs and finally collapsed near the waiting room. I could hardly walk for two days. Bruises all over me.

Another time, some asshole left a Bobcat. When I came to work that day I had to get him out. He crawled up my arm, bit me on the hand, arm and shoulder. I finally got him restrained and leashed him so we could get him out again after we worked on him.

Then there was the time a big ferrel tom cat got loose and I cornered him under the stairs. I was bitten on the hard and arm 6 times before I got him under control. One of the bites was through the tendon shieth on my left wrist. It resulted in a ganglanon which I had to have operated on.

Finally, I had to accompany the Vet to a milk barn one day to test for "Bangers" in the herd. As I walked through the barn a cow kicked me in the hip. Hurt like hell. Left a huge bruise. But the worst part was, it threw me into a manure pile :(

Yes, my friend... there are a lot of injuries in Vet Hospitals. Occasionally deaths... but those are usually from being trampled or crushed by cows. Cows in stantions tend to want to pin you between them and you can't get out. That's why you should never work on them alone. Horses are pretty dangerous too.

Yeah, I've heard about the damage horses can do.

Trampling and crushing? Wow, cows usually look so harmless. Do they just flip out when touched by a person?

Yep. My ex-brother-in-law was a vet at Brookfield Zoo. He took the job primarily because he was far more comfortable working with lions, elephants, or even alligators than with the farm animals he had previously encountered in a rural private practice. Dairy cattle were #2 on his nightmare list, right behind "domesticated" hogs.

Now why did I think of Hannibal when you said that?

No... they are really a fairly dumb animal... They will just lean against you... if there's one behind you it will lean against you too... they are so big you can't move them and they crush the wind out of you.

Snake are really bad too. The non-poisonous ones will give you a nasty bite and their mouths are just filthy. You can get a terrible infection. The poisonous ones you just refuse to handle at all.

Same with birds. Their body temp is normally about 105 or so. Bugs won't grow in them but if you get pecked they will infect you with some nasty stuff.
