hi everyone, at the insistance of cats, and with my own newly discovered interest in doing so, i'm putting out feelers for a Legend of the Five Rings-based freestyle. for some info about the setting check out this thread.

for those that are interested, there's an awesome website out there that has all of the various families, techniques, etc. here

for those that want to play, don't worry about the stats and stuff, but please identify your char by clan, family, and job. if you want to also list their advantages/disadvantages, that's great but not neccessary. for shugenja (spellcasters) it might be best to post the spells you know here to cut down on powergaming just the right spell...

anyone interested?

oh...i just rechecked that website...they don't actually list the spells...which kind of sucks, but oh well...if anyone wants to play a shugenja, i can briefly go over that info.

I will be in the crane (and thus a swordsmen) or in the dragon (and thus a calmer verity of fighter). I'm still working on ideas.

if you want to be an outcast, you could also try being a former Akodo...long story, i'll tell it next time. or just a plain ol' ronin.

meanwhile, i'm gonna have to pick out who I want to play...*l*

Ok, i think i decided.

I will be playing (unless i decide differently later) that i will be playing a Rank 3 Shiba Yojimbo (bodygaurd). I haven't worked out a physical description or anything yet, so you'll have to wait on that, but we should start getting things together or else we're never going to actually start playing.

advantages: Kakita blade (Thin flexable sword, given to her.)
spaceal awareness. (General knowldge of the area around her.)

Disadvantages: Lecherous, Nightmares, lost love.

physical descrip: Medium height, muscularly built, a few small scars on face and body from prior duties as protector of shugenja

quirks: has a habit of licking his lips and putting a hand on the hilt of his katana whenever he is nervous or in deep concentration

school: Shiba Yojimbo (Bodygaurd)

rank: 3

advantages: minor ally (Isawa Karasu, the shugenja currently under his protection), strength of the earth (lowest level, has spent a great deal of time focusing his body to take punishment without distracting him from his job), inner gift: danger sense (has been focusing his chi so that he can detect danger just soon enough to jump in front of his charge to protect them)

disadvantages: chemical dependency: sake (being a bodygaurd is a stressful job), sworn enemy: Bayushi Akui, a Scorpion who slew his first master. normally this would be cause for him to become a ronin, but an exception was made in his case due to the inexperience Ichikara had had, and he was given a second chance. he swore vengence against Akui, and longs to meet and kill him.)
