Casting Call for the land of L'anDanora.

I know I'm new, but I have what I think will be a good setting for some role playing, and I can't find any threads out there that I want to join that haven't already died off. If any of you are interested in joining an adventure in a land of magic, dragons, vampires, half-insects, half-fish, Gods that actually interact with your character, and whatever else can be thought of, then any and all are welcome. You can be any race, look like whatever you want. The adventure will be long. If you plan on being a Necromancer, I must say that you will be on the side of evil. In the land that I'm thinking of, Necromancy is considered evil and vile, and people hunt Necromancers down. I only ask that nobody make their character unbeatable, as there will undoubtedly be new people posting in here. To have a basic idea what the world looks like, look up a map from the Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan. I used that map as my base in this. We'll be starting somewhere around the southern area labelled for the Wheel of Time as Illian. It won't be called that in my thread, though, because of copyright infringement.

For anyone who is interested, post in here, and please include your characters name, sex, age, race, what they look like, what they wear, what weapons they have, what potions or herbs they might be carrying, and generally just be as descriptive as possible. Try to keep your weapons basic, and also you can have basic enchantments on your clothing or weapons. If you want to know if something you're thinking of is overpowered, just ask me. If you have a sneaky character who has concealed weapons that you don't want anyone to know about, just PM me.

Name: Namennarg
Sex: Male
Age: 23
Race: Human
Profession: Spellsword
Weapon: Ashandarei. Haft and blade are black steel of unknown origins.
Spells: Spells involving the elements, and different ways in which they can be used.
Looks: 5'11", rather pale, shoulder length jet black hair, and green eyes.
Clothes: Black leather jacket that comes to his knees, and has a hood. Long, elbow length black leather gloves. Knee-high black leather boots. Black leather cape worn over the coat, and clasped with a dragon's head brooch. Black leather belt with a dragon's head buckle. Long sleeved black silk shirt, with the sleeves tucked into the gloves. Black wool pants, tucked into the boots. All leather items have silver stitching.
Enchantments: Boots are enchanted to be completely silent, and the hood is enchanted to conceal my face when I put it up. All of my clothing is enchanted to remain completely clean.

I invite all of you to let your imaginations run free, and create whatever character you like.

Clothes: Well worn brown leather boots, black trousers, bronze breastplate and plate armour extending down the left arm to meet a plate gauntlet, right arm bare, waist length dark green cloak with hood
Enchantments: Magic cloak stops all rain from touching the wearer and keeps them warm.

Are you going to be using much stuff from the WoT series? I stopped reading halfway through book 8 several years back and cant remember much.

No, I won't really be using too much from the WoT series. I just wanted everyone who was interested to have a basic idea of what the landmass looks like, so they can track our progress. It helps me to be able to know what kind of places we will be in, too. I'm glad to see someone finally showed some interest in my thread. I'd almost given up on it.

Well I think people might be driven away simply by the theme (people who don't like it will avoid it and people who don't know it could think that they won't fit in with the others playing). It might be better to call it something else and just say that you're using the Wheel of Time map.

As far as this thread goes, if there's no more activity for a week I'm gonna have to drop out and take my character concept to another story. Feel free to catch me in another game though, I'm also a member over at rpgforumsonline.com (still Wargarble) if you can't get started here.

I might be interested and I'm sure I can round up at least one more friend, the thing is we both have kids so we cant post constantly but we'll post if we decide to take it on. You are allowing a lot of character freedom, I don't understand why no one is interested.

Weapons: DeathsBlade, a weapon that can rip the soul right out of it's victim. Neflhm, a single handed longsword with a silver crossguard and pommel, the rest of the sword is black, a black shield with a silver skull in the centre, a black dagger and a hunting bow with arrows
Spells: Death based spells
Looks: 6'7", white hair, pale skin, black eyes, tall powerfully built body
Clothes: Black scale armor, black boots, black cloak with a single rune on it in. Under the armor he wears a pair of black leather pants
Enchantments: The shield has a deflection enchantment, the cloak's rune is a sigil used for concealment, when the edges touches the wearer starts to look like a shadow

Age: 453.
Race: Undead.
Profession: Reaper.
Weapon: Reaper's Scythe. It is his own unique scythe used to separate soul from body once it's target parishes.
Spells: Wall transition, basically able to move through objects for a short amount of time. Phantom vision, allows him to see spirits or follow spirit threads. Shadow Walk, allows him to pass through the shadow realm, something like shadow step.
Looks: Six foot, pale skin, piercing, unwavering silver eyes. Silver hair to mid eye level. Frightening appearance.
Clothes: Midnight black long robes with a deep hood. Black gloves and boots.
Enchantments: Robes are just as resistant as dragon scale armor. Hood covers face in shadows. Scythe never dulls or breaks.

Changing my character. Hope no one minds. And don't worry, the scythe's ability is for after they're dead.

Race: Spirt-touched Human (like human, but with inherent magical ablities)
Profession: Mageson (exclusive proffeson, Prince of the Great Telmerian Empire, from across the Spine of the World)
Weapon: Death-to-Deities, a plain iron claive etched with scracthed and pitted holy (and profane) symbols, The weilder is completly immune to divine magic of any capcity, and can not be approched by a cleric or god unless he chooses to be
Spells: Subtle, social spells, plus a single flashy attack spell known as Hammer of Humanity which creates a smashing force.
Looks: 6'1, rather regal looking. Pale purple eyes, white skin, only lightly muscled
Clothes: One regal court outfit, consisting of a azure tunic trimmed in amythest, chain link pants, and tough leather boots, along with a silver circlet and gloves. THe outfit never gets dirty, or wears, and the shirt is as tought a s chain mail, although it also weights as much.
Enchantments: Circlet allows him to roughly 5 seconds into the future, although he can not see the future and the present simutaniously, and so using it in social situations is rather akward. OTher then that, has a natuarally authorative bearing, and could (in theory) call on the IMperial Expaditionary Force, although it would take nearly a year to arrive.

Well the Thread starter said we were free to create whatever character we want. So have fun with it, it's a magical world he's put us in....ever played DnD? Or read Wheel of Time or the Sword of Truth novels?

I didn't say that, and everything is weak by comparison of what people could have done, I was just saying that we seem to be setting a high baseline.

Ah, SO SORRY!

I'm so sorry I haven't been on! There was a family crisis that I had to deal with, and then when I got back this wasn't even on my mind. I feel horrible. I hope you all haven't totally lost interest in this. If not, then we can get started right away. There are no Jedi allowed, so sorry about that. I just don't know enough about Jedi to allow them in here. Basically anything else goes, though. We have more than enough people to start. I was really about to give up on this thread, until I got that first response. Now, suddenly, I find myself with quite a few interested characters. I hope you can all find it in your hearts to forgive me. I'll be posting a new thread to get this all started, so if you're still interested, post in there.

Also, DeathsKnight, while I did say you could create any character, I also said not to make them unbeatable. I'm not saying your character is too powerful. I understand that you could have gone a lot farther with that character.

P.S. The money system is going to be 10 copper to 1 silver, and 10 silver to 1 gold, just so everyone knows.
