What I would like to have in this story is about 6-9 main characters, hopefully an equal number of ladies to men (if it is more one way that's fine.) This story takes place as the old king, Darious Walker, dies of old age and his son, Rain Walker, takes control of the throne at the age of 18. The kingdom is huge, about the same size as the Roman empire during its high time. It has become an allience of many other kingdoms in the world and they have named this allience, 'The Allied Nations of the Phoenix' named after the powerful Phoenix Knights that have always been used for defence. They have never attacked any country first always on the defence and then they retaliate. They belive wholeheartedly in this rule, 'The purpose of the Phoenix Knight is defend the weak, protect the innocent and gain vengence against those who wrongfully pursue evil intent.'
Rain, not only now king but was and still is the only undefeated knight in the entire kingdom. The greiving for his knights is over and they have decided that it is time they had a queen, but it must be someone he falls in love with before he marries her. Being Knights they tend to be a bit overdramatic and the saying, 'Love over marrige' can be heard often when talking to a knight about matters such as these. Naturally ladies would flock for this kind of oppurtunity, but who will he fall in love with?

Physical description of Rain Walker;
Fire-red hair to his back, straight. Steel grey sharp eyes but with a youthfull energy to them. Chiseld features make it look as if his face was carved out of a shinning marble by a master carver. Very tall, about 6'6"(full height) and a muscular 275 pounds. His complextion is tanned from spending much of his free time training in the sun which he loves.
Other things about Rain such as weapons and armor shall be described in the story.
So please there are alot of options for everyone, you can be a Knight, a King of another country, if you come up with a really good character you can probably be one of Rain's Generals, you can be a forgien princess. One more thing about the knights I should add anyone can be a Knight of the Phoenix; male, female, monster the only requirement for becoming a Knight is that you up hold the sacred doctrine. That is all, Just PM me with your character and once we have the 6-9 people We will start.
Thanks for reading.

Many parts still availible, I need some more ladies to take part. Perhaps just 3 more ladies and 1 more man would be perfect. Plus this does not have to be all good and nice, evil characters can play and cause all kinds of havoc. Just kind of keep it in your minds that if you are going to be bad, unless what you come up with is just too cool not to use, you will probably loose. Good always triumph's over evil in fantasy at least most of the time it does. So let's get those creative juices flowing I know with the right people this can be a great thread.

*friendly bump*

It might help if you listed which parts are filled and by whom and most importantly an outline of what you still need characterwise for your thread?

All the best!

DM x
:rose:

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. You said you had a bunch of guys earlier, does that mean the 5 left are just women? If not, I'd love to be a part of it.

I PMed you with a couple character concepts. ^_^

I did a thread like this once, and it turned out really nicely and lasted quite a while longer than it seemed like it would've. These sorts of threads often combine politics with dungeon crawling with strategy battles with romance, and it's always lots of fun, especially when you're playing multiple characters...

But, yeah, DM's right. Tell us what's goin on so far.

I'm all up for becoming a Queen! ;)

Yay!

First thanks for the Bump

Ok, on to buiseness.

Let's see so far there are

2 ladies (Good)
1 lady (Evil)
4 men (Good)

perhaps one more lady character either good or evil. Who the character is, is up to you, They can be anything you want. Whatever your imagination can come up with. I'll explain some of the parts that have been taken.

Men Parts:
Personal Advisor to the King--Taken
Military Advisor--Availible, but going fast. Should be a good friend of the king, perhaps childhood friend.
Knight--1 or 2 more depending on how many people are interested.

Lady Parts:
Foriegn princess or love interest--1 availible
Lady Knight or Love interest--availible
Rain's Sister--Availible but highly scrutinized. Whoever takes that part whould need to consult with me as to who Rain is. Originally Rain doesn't have a sister but I am toying with this idea, so if someone wants to try it feel free to ask. I would really like to get someone to play her.

I hope that kind of clears up somethings for you. If there are any other questions just ask.

Thank you for your interest.

Aacha! Okay, RoneLith buddy, I PMed you and said I'll post my character ideas here: which I hope is okay, since I only PMed you like 15 minutes ago and you haven't had a chance to respond. ^_^ Still, I imagine it's not such a big deal -- so here it is! Super two-character combination!

Character One: Good Girl

Name: Taiji Prayer-On-Wind
Gender: Female
Age: Around 18
Occupation: Shaman Princess
Nationality: Maiki, a "province" of Naitosho (see below)
Appearance: Beautiful, dark-haired and soft-featured but with eyes that shine with passion, Taiji is young and slender but quite full-figured, perhaps even a little over-endowed for her slim frame (though she covers it rather modestly with intricately woven ceremonial kimonos, whether silk or cotton). In Earth terms, her appearance would be of one of Southeast Asian descent -- if you need help, think Talim from Soul Calibur, only older and much more buxom. ^_^
Description: Beyond the civilized lands of the Allied Nations of the Pheonix, there is a vast nation of plains and forests, where nomadic herders and tribal warriors trade and deal with small towns of silkweavers and rice fields. Though the large country of Naitosho is a powerful member of the Allied Nations, famed for its beautiful archetecture, interesting philosophical texts, and delightful (albeit fattening) cuisene, even Naitosho has its barbarians, the nomadic warriors, and these warriors are held in check only by their allies and advisors, a central "nation" known as Maiki that resides around holy places deep within the forest. There, monks and priestesses commune with the spirits and meditate on what proper path history should take.

A child is blessed by the spirits and destined to become the Prince or Princess of this community, and they are always assigned a great task. As the Allied Nations have grown more powerful, Naitosho has shown less and less fear for the barbarian nomads -- normally the waking nightmare of the "civilized world", with the military might of the Alliance, Naitosho can more than defend itself against even surprise attacks. Not only that, Naitosho has begun pushing back even more than usual, and the place known as Maiki by those who reside there is soon to be invaded. Naitosho claims these plains for its own, and soon the spirits will be forgotten by the city farmers, soldiers, and scholars. Even the famed philosophers of Naitosho think little of the barbarian priests.

According to the guidance of the spirits, the current priestess must travel to see aid from the current head of the Phoenix Alliance. It is said he is in need of a wife -- if necessary, this priestess will provide herself. She will do whatever she can to save her people, and follow what her heart, her will, and the spirits dictate. Her name is Taiji Prayer-on-Wind, and she commands the Elements of Nature, for she is the Chosen One of the Spirits.

However, traveling alone is dangerous. Accosted by bandits en route through Naitosho, Taiji found herself in serious straits, and ambushed, she had little time to defend herself with pleas to the spirits -- and besides, though strong-willed, she abhors unnecessary violence. The bandits were more inclined to divest her of her garments, however, but fortunately she was aided by...

Character Two: Good Guy

Name: Ki
Gender: Male
Age: Around 18... maybe
Occupation: He forgets (wandering martial artist/spiritualist/artist/poet/physician/laborer)
Nationality: None recognizable
Appearance: Bronze-skinned, rather muscular, and gifted with silky locks of dark purple hair that are cut short in front so that they almost stand up in spikes and hang slightly longer in back, this young man, calling himself Ki, is both handsome and beautiful, appearing on the crux between boyhood and manhood -- though maybe a little closer to boyhood. He sometimes seems so relaxed that he looks a little bemused, almost, but his eyes are sharp and burn with the same light that burns in Taiji's eyes, only his seems more refined.

Description: Ki doesn't remember where he came from or who he is, and he doesn't particularly care. He seems convinced that he has some sort of quest he ought to fulfill, but he doesn't seem to care overly about that either. And yet any task he sets his mind to he invariably completes with unparalled efficiency and aptitude -- even though he doesn't seem to care about it. He seems as though he were a Zen master who, once enlightened, forgot everything that transpired beforehand. Whatever the case, Ki desires very little, if anything at all, and yet he keeps on living, for some odd reason. He is clearly extremely intelligent, and is also rather charming and eloquent when you get him talking -- and he can also make use of surprising guile when he needs to. He is very well-rounded, and lacks very little, and needs very little, which makes him a perfect bodyguard.

Which is what he's become, for the moment.

"You know, your virtue is the measure of your humanity," the young man said, as he kicked a bandit in the face. "Do not mistake desire for passion." Punching in two directions at once knocked two of his opponents senseless instantly. "Be like the tiger -- or, no, wait, is it the crane?" Switching into a Tiger stance, he kicked another bandit in the stomach, and then turning seamlessly into a Crane stance, the last bandit found himself blasted to the ground with a cruel series of chops and crescent kicks. Ki surveyed his work as Taiji stared at him in amazement. "Hmm... it looks like both work," he said quietly, his eyes wide as he scratched the back of his head thoughtfully.

And so on and so forth.

For the moment, these two are traveling together. Ki carries nothing but whatever textbook or novel he's currently reading and whatever art he's created that he hasn't sold yet -- though now he's saddled with Taiji's extra robes. She carries her prayer staff, papers fluttering in the breeze as they both head toward the capitol...

Character: Deliciously evil.

Isabelle Dalon’crea, Queen of Alleria.

Alleria is a rather large island country. The country has been, as well as it’s inhabitants, shrouded in mystery for many a century. It has been self sufficient, with no known alliances formed with any - nor had any been rumored until recently. A missive from Alleria has been delivered to the newly crowned King Rain requesting an audience, alluding to the forming of an association. Upon reply, Queen Isabelle and her delegation shall travel, by sea and land, to the capital of The Allied Nation’s of the Phoenix.

A tidbit of past history:

Isabelle is the second child of long deceased King Etaine and his Queen, Marie-Celeste. Isabelle obtained the throne through many unscrupulous acts. Merrick, Etaine’s older child and heir from his first marriage met with an unfortunate accident while horseback riding shortly after his father’s death. Rumors that the saddle had been tampered with were muted quite quickly and effectively by those loyal to Queen Marie-Celeste. The Queen being shrewd, manipulative and calculating, she schemed and acted in what she thought was the best interest of her child - to provide her the throne, an empire to rule. Like mother, like daughter. Isabelle has indeed obtained the throne, continuing her mother’s unscrupulous ways to the demise of the hale and hearty former Queen, who ever so conveniently died in her sleep.

Isabelle is a young, ambitious Queen casting her evil eye on expanding her rule. Although occasionally impulsive, she is cunning, sly and without remorse. She is 23 years of age. Standing at 5’10”, She is tall for a female and quite stunning. Her hair is long, cascading in loose ringlets down her back. It is a deep, dark lustrous shade of black. Her almond shaped eyes are a vivid blue, framed with thick dark lashes. They have just a slight tilt to the corners, giving her a somewhat exotic appearance. Her complexion is beautiful, creamy and smooth with just a gentle touch of rose along her cheeks. Her lips are full and pouty, a dusky red naturally. They curve easily into a gleaming smile, revealing white, pearly teeth, when the situation is to Isabelle’s liking. She is voluptuous, leggy, with a gorgeous hourglass figure that the opposite sex seems unable to resist. She oozes sex appeal and she knows it, and utilizes it to her best advantage. She is willing and eager student of the dark arcane arts, and makes good study and use of the alchemist labs hidden within the confines of her castle.

Ooh, evil young queen. Awesome, Miss Imoen. ^_^

Say, RoneLith buddy, I have two questions about the game world:

1) Do you have any ideas about how magic/religion should be set up? Like, should we just go for the psuedo-standard, where there are priests of the higher god/goddess (possibly a duality, yin-yang style... that's my favorite) and then those who harness the arcane elements (with science and alchemy and runic symbols that represent broder concepts, wizard-style) and then those who converse with the earthly spirits (i.e. Taiji, the monks of Maiki, and the priests of Naitosho)?

2) You don't mind us creating countries, do you? I think we should fill out the game world like this. Mysterious island countries rule, too. Let's arrange everything (i.e., where all the countries are in relation to each other) once everyone else inputs their ideas...

(EDIT: Also! What about non-human races? There are elves and dwarves and such, right?)

To all those who might have still been interested.

The casting call for this story is now closed all those that have been accepted are now notified. Terribly sorry that you could not be apart of it. If you were truly interested than keep an eye open for the story thread so that you can enjoy what we, the writters, will create. I hope you like it and thank you for your interest.

Aww, Rone! Why don't we leave the casting call open as sort of an OOC notification place? In case you want to send the players out of character messages and such?

Besides, if, once we get the thread started, it seems like we could handle having more people in it, I'm sure it'd be alright if people joined in the middle of the game, right? New characters finding avenues to get in and such...

That's how things usually go on Lit, at least.

My character.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads-up on my character. This guy is the Kings Personal Advisor, almost a Vizier or Chancellor I suppose, but came up through the military ladder not administrative.

This is the first time I've played a character much older than myself - normally I go in for twenty-somethings (being a twenty-something myself!) so I'm interested to see how it goes. As always, I'm very approachable if you've got a plot hook or storyline direction you'd like to pursue that involves my character - just drop a note in here or PM me!

Anyway - onto the intro!

Lord-Marshal Reyner "Ironfist" Drucal
Age: Mid forties
Appearance: Hardened from a life at war. Serious natured.

Character: Something of a stock character in fantasies, this is the archetypal Advisor figure. A boyhood companion of the old King's when the King was a Knight Errant, they shared many adventures. Loyal follower of the old King, he was used as an enforcer and battlefield general whenever the Empire had a tough military problem to solve. Never beaten on the field.

Although he's a little old to be fighting the younger crop of knights personally, he drilled many of the current heroes in weapons skills and most of the current officers in the Royal army in tactics and generalship. He's a little too old to have been a companion of the new King when he was earning his spurs and battle honours as a Knight.

Accepted the role of Lord-Marshall during the kings final illness, which has forced him to settle down and consider his own future plans for marriage. Can be a little too hard, even comes off as gruff, but those that have been with him in the field know he has a sense of humour in private. Loved by the rank and file for his history of victories (and bringing his men home alive) and for being a soldiers soldier.

Role in Thread: Now that he's home and less likely to be called off to all parts of the Alliance to defend the Kings interests he's a likely target for matrimony. The King will obviously attract the young princesses and high nobility, but a Kings requirements are very different to an old General's, so there shouldn't be a clash here (unless all the ladies decide to be the wrong side of 25, and competitor suitors, of course - in which case I'll rethink). Doesn't come from a noble family - so may provide scope for non-noble female characters to join the fun of Romance in a Kings court caught up with the idea, or for younger female warriors with a crush.

This is my character- I hope that he fits in well with everyone else.

Isaiah Stormcloud
36
6' 5"
230lbs
Long black hair
Full beard
Grey eyes

Weapon of choice: Two handed broadsword strapped to his back.

A formidable fighter and noble knight. Lives only to protect the weak and serve his king. He has been training knights over the years as well as the king. He thinks of Rain more like a son than a king and will do anything that is asked of him. He has been with the king since he was a young boy and has watched him grow up to be a fine young man. He has rescued Rain from a few tight spots and has taught him valuable lessons along the way. Believes in chivalry and that the strong should not grow stronger by punishing the week. Is not married as his position is his entire life and lives only to be a knight.

Aaraa, aaraa, does no one want to play a lady knight?

Cuz I'll make one of those too, if there aren't any. Captain of the Elite Lady Pheonix Knights or something!

Normally I don't play a lot of different characters at once, but I really like these kind of threads. ^_^

I pm`d Ronelith about my character a long time ago.

She`s a young wizard-trainee who falls in love with the king, so she joins the Pheonix-knights to maybe get kloser to him.

Angela
Dark hair
Blue-green eyes
5"6`

Weapon: When she has to use weapons (which she dos`nt like), she uses knives. Otherwise she likes magic.
She comes from one of the outher, smaller kingdoms in the alliance.

Character Description:

Name: Taelyn Walker
Age: 18
Alignent: Rebellious Good
Physical Description: 5'8, with a long, lithe build...with seductive curves. Waist length fiery red hair, ivory skin sunkissed by freckles, and piercing green eyes framed by dark lashes.
Occupation: Princess (Rain's younger sister), and Knight
Weapons of Choice: Taelyn is highly proficient with both her long sword, and the long bow. She also carries knives hidden in wrist sheaths, even while she's at court.
Brief Bio: Taelyn has always had a rebellious streak, she's always wanted to follow her beloved older brother Rain out to battle, and she's finally gotten her opportunity to follow in her brother's footsteps and become a Knight, though he tends to be very protective of his only sister whom he adores.

I'm back

Ok

Hiya,
sorry about the about the couple of days away but I have been very busy with work and such these past few days.
So first off, thanks to Curious's suggestion of keeping this thread open for OOC chat and leaving the tread open I have decided to do just that. I would hope that those people that wish to join in the story talk to me first either via PM or on the OOC thread. As you all can tell I am new to this so thanks for the pointers. I just want to be able to kind of controll where the main story is going and I am just a little afraid that with too many characters it might get out of hand. I am hopefull that with your help we can keep it on the right track. Ok on to the introduction...
Phoenix Knights~'A King's Heart'<--look for it.:D

Whew! Biiiiig post! Didn't really mean for it to get that big. But there you go -- a bit of backstory in the main thread.

Hey, Rone, I'm going to PM you with a few suggestions, just to keep it out of the OOC thread. Keep your eyes open for it...

RoneLith, please, please tell me I'm not crazy and I posted my character description before. I can find no record of it, but I know I did.

He was something Patchwork. I'll call him Jackarta Patchwork now.
He was a peasant from the Allied lands of the Phoenix . He had always dreamed of being a Knight and had traveled many a month to get to the Capitol. Along the dangerous journey, he had armed and armored himself along the way. His armor was a patchwork, hence the name, of many places and times, no piece matched another;however they all fit him.

His honor is his all. The Knight's creed means everything to him and he will never fail it, were his very life a stake.

And he serves the King with the same fervor and loves him like a brother. He would gladly trade his life for the Kings.

He is 5'9" tall, with sandy blonde hair. His thin but muscled body has been weather by the elements. His blue eyes are friendly, but harden into a stone like glare when his values are challenged.

Because I like specifics, my next post is probably going to have Taiji explaining the teachings of Maiki to Ki. So it's probably going to be long too. Which means I'm probably not going to post tonight because I'm workin on a research paper.

Still, don't forget to check out my PM, RoneLith. I worked hard on it. ^_^

I am going to advance the story line six monthes soon. If any character that still wants to be apart of the "Prologue" please post soon so that everyone else can join in.

I finally posted, a mid size post, and to the point.
I thought it would be interesting to show Taelyn's duality...her tomboy-esque side that wants fight...and the princess in her that isn't afraid to express her emotions. Her reaction to the King's death can be like it was, she's not the heir to the throne no one is looking to her to make important decisions. Plus she's young enough to still have the teen angst thing going on. She'll grow and mature abit I'm sure as the story goes on but I think this is a good place for her to start out.
Though I am open to suggestions. This is my first SRP :)

Didn't you only go back three months, Rone? Or was it six?

Either way, once you move it back to "normal time", I'll post again. I have nothing to say in prologue mode... but I'm patient. ^_^

Also, Rone, with regard to the stuff I talked about in my PM: Taiji is going to have to deal with some of that stuff, as her magics are elemental in form. So do you mind if I use my ideas for her powers? She's going to describe her magic to Ki (for the benefit of the readers and for the sake of context for the universe), in my next post or at least soon, so that's why I was so interested in the topic. I suppose, though, even if comments between that journal entry in the first post and Taiji's beliefs differ, we could put it off to differences in theology, right? After all, I imagine nobody knows for SURE what the Gods do. ^_^

And SSoul! Your character sounds fun. I hope we get to meet IC in the near future. :D
