The thread Faire Wind is in need of a 4th player, a male writer. If interested, please post your character directly into the thread.

Also, if anyone is interested in joining this thread, please feel free to do so. Any and all are welcome!

Faire Wind

Thanks,
Chele

The thread, Faire Winde is in need of a couple of female players. We have some great talent from the guys, I think it's time for the gals to put them to work!

And ladies interested in joining the thread, please post your character at the thread mentioned in the first post. Or, please feel free to PM me with any suggestions you might have.

Any and all are welcome to sail!

If there is still room for another male, I would love to participate.

Danny

Okay, guys and gals, here's the scoop:

At the moment we have 5 guys posting to the Faire Wind, and only 2 women. Dannyb, if you post, that makes it 6 guys to 2 women.

Now, under normal circumstances, I would be drooling at these odds! However, when it comes to roleplay, not even I can stretch myself that thin. Gals we need your help - we have some great talent going to waste here and need at least 3 more females to round out the numbers.

I don't care if you've been on Lit for years or if you just signed up today. If you want to be in a roleplay that involves the high seas, hop on board! But - just knew there was a "but", huh?

Please keep this thread in context. That means it takes place in the late 1700s. I would like to keep this thread as real to the time as possible (realizing, of course, that we are not all history majors - at least I'm not!). But that does mean playing true to the time period. (No superhuman, female pirate queens, in other words)

There can be many parts still available: female prisoners are, of course the majority. However, there are were also ladies of means travelling on this ship, too. Could be the cabin boy is truly a female stowaway.

So, gals have a look, and if interested, let me know. Don't let these just sit around playing with their hands! :)

OOC:

SexyChele, if you don't mind, I have thought of a new roll. I know that the ratio is way out of wack, however I would really like in. Not only that, I WAS a history minor with journalism as my major. Which means as a journalist, my posts can get long, but my grammer will still stink.

Danny crouched by his sister, or what was left of her in the hold of the ship. Knowing that it was not him who had done wrong, and not him who had been sent to Austa-land or something like that, would not help him if he were caught here in the hold. It was just too painful for him to let his sister go to this far away place without anyone in the world. Even with the knowledge that it was his sister and her love of the opium pipe that had gotten her sent away in the first place. Danny had hidden himself among the fresh water barrels in the hold. Lying low when someone struggeld for their meager bit of water.

This had gone well for the early part of the voyage, then his sister had started to feel the shakes involved in her forced seperation from the opium pipe. The shakes had gotten worse and worse, until finally coming to her brother one night she could no longer get up to leave him. She lay there shaking cold and feeling all alone despite her brother next to her. Danny watched as his sister died.

Dannyb, I certainly didn't mean to disuade you from joining. I'd be happy for you to join our voyage. I would appreciate your knowledge of history of the period - it's one that fascinates me, even if I'm not that well versed in it.

If possible, you can copy and paste the post above into the thread.

Still haven't heard from any gals yet! This is a rarity at Lit, that's for certain! All kinds of guys and no gals to keep them company during those long, cold nights at sea.....

Yes PMTick, my character is out, the thread is getting silly.

Prisoners wouldn't escape from their shackles or hold, Lifeboats ? well whats that all about.

The men and women were in separate holds now they are all together.

Children on a prison ship no way. Not unless they were born there.

The realism is getting lost by unresearched postings and that was one of the attractions of the thread.

My character I think has acted realistically even to the point of taking her own life.

I normally just sit and read this stuff but I had to say something.

Why can't the prisoners revolt, sounds like a good twist to me. Not everyone is interested in History, if they were they'd read history books and not erotica.

Seems to me like you are a very self centered person who likes to have your own way and bottles it when it does fit your plan. The thread is very good. Great job SexyChele and co. Keep it up.
The loss of one player is no big loss at all.

Snork Maiden who was that then.... LOL

Snork, you will have a PM shortly....

CH - While I am very honored that you enjoy the thread as is, I do have to agree with Snork Maiden. There are many threads on the board that drift off into unreal fantasy. Those are fine - I've engaged in a few myself and had a thoroughly good time with them.

However, one of the points I made with this thread was that the players remember the time period, and play within those parameters. As thread originator, is it my perogative to make such a demand. It is the player's responsibility to follow through. I don't intend to demean your compliment, in fact, it does flatter the ego. What can I say? I'm human.

As for Snork Maid being self-centered and wanting her own way, I would have to disagree - strongly. This was the first time I've written with her, and I must say that she is one of the few exceptional role players we have here at Lit. If you read her posts, you can tell she put a great deal of thought and effort into each one. She also has more knowledge about this time period than anyone I've met so far. Even though this is a first effort between the two of us, she has left me in awe of her talent.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, however, I will not stand by and see some one unfairly maligned on the board. Snork Maiden did what she felt was best for her character. I cannot fault that. I have done the same.

Sorry

I seem to be the cause of the confusion here and I apologise for taking too much liberty with my character I failed History 101 I guess. I'll pm you chele for advice.

sorry again

I have time for one more post and I'll make it right here.
Chele originated this thread as a serious historical period piece. There are plenty of places you can go for freewheeling, swords and fantasy stuff.
Everything SM said in her post is true.
She chose to leave when the 'historical' nature of the posts became to skewed and I have no quarrel with that.

The thread can be saved but only by reintroducing new femmes who are concerned with serious postings and a commitment by the remaining players not to turn this into another silly pirate epic.

Criticism

Hi Chele, Thanks for your support, though I don't want to drag you down with me :( (figuratively speaking.)

This thread still has a lot of potential.

My character was already in trouble from the moment Ariosto and Myself agreed to do the sex scenes as a rape. I felt and he felt that was realistic and appropriate although I think it is safe to say we were both uncomfortable about it.

I hope we pulled it off ok, the intention was really to make people see that rape and rape fantasy isn't really erotic at all, the reality is pretty nasty.

One thing that strikes me as causing the problems is when solo players introduce plot themes. That is sometimes beneficial but more often than not it is disruptive. These ideas should be discussed first with other players, and other players informed.

You don't have to be a history Major to write about history, there are loads and loads of places where you can get information about prison ships, penal colonies, naval terms etc on the internet.

Most authors I would think always research the things they write about if they haven't got first hand knowledge, it adds to the realism and enjoyment of the finish work.

This is an absolutely fantastic thread idea, with so much potential and some equally faboulous writers, it shouldn't be allowed to be scuppered by thoughtless posts.

If a character isn't interacting with another you can still post, look at the examples at the beginning of the thread. A character can have flash backs, remembering there better fortunes and contrasted with the current. It is difficult soetimes for players to participate if they have nothing to play off, but it is silly to introduce your own little adventure just for the sake of posting something.

Well I probably endeared myself to totally nobody for saying all that but you guys have got a fabulous thread here... not just a pervy stick it in, pull it out, 20 posts and it's dead thread.

Snork

In reply to Crab Hunter, self centered, well possibly.

I am who I am, if you think I am self centered then I guess I am. What I can tell you is this. If I commit to something, I give it my best and I am very critical of my own work. It upsets me a lot when other people think its ok to spoil the hard work and well thought out posts, that make a plot gel together by submitting posts that clearly have to influence other people, thus altering the general course of the thread without even discussing it with another person.

Thats all I have to say on the matter.

SM I hope that the thread will continue too, especially since I just made my first post in it. I'm sorry that I didn't have a chance to write with you. Perhaps another time.

I think that you made your point with the rape scene. Well done. Your exit was well thought out, and gracious. Some people would just stop posting, instead, you wrote yourself out in a way that was in keeping with your character and the genre of the thread. Thank you for your consideration to the readers.

Well, Chele, are we still on?

Kit

Yes, the thread is still "on". Players, please read the narrative that I have posted tonight.

As of now, this thread is closed to open involvement. If you want to join this thread, please contact me through PM.

I just must weigh in with my own thoughts here. I absolutely agree with the lovely and talented Snork. This thread had, and still has incredible potential. The historical inaccuracies are detracting to the storyline. Even in erotica, fantasy sci-fi any good writing there must be verisimilitude. In the case of a story based in history, as Chele made it clear this would be, then the story tellers have an obligation to not cross the line from "poetic justice" to impossible unrealities.

True to have 2 seperate holds for prisoners makes it difficult for there to be interaction among the prisoners (that was the idea), but as a writer embrace the difficulty do not write it out or ignore it.

In the case of a prisoner revolt, I think that is plausable, or at least to have one man stand-up against his oppressors is certainly believable. The children, a bit too far I believe, though. As Chele has written it, it is now up to Pithe to decide what to do with the randy Irishman. We shall see what the evil Pithe has in store.

Snork and Ari I can't really say that I enjoyed the rape scene, however I think that was the point. It was very well done, and I thank you for your contribution.

Now for a bit of self-congratulation. I also am quite proud of myself. Pithe is one of my better characters, I feel. I also have had no 'off the thread' or PM's with Snork regarding the fate of Mary. She in no way told me or asked or suggested that Pithe should leave her by the railing. That brief interaction is a true improvisational example of unplanned SRP.

At any rate I look forward to continueing the story, and welcome the addition of the enticing Catherine.
