Okay...so a while back, we had this thread that was a fairly good idea and had a fairly good following, but had no direction...it was called Dark Isle, and is often boosted back to the top of the board due to an ongoing sexual escapade between the two remaining characters...or at least it was sex when i checked it last.
Anyway, given the populaity of it at the time (it actually made the what's hot on the Lit. newsletter, can you believe that?) I want to give this one another try...
Perhaps a go from the same perspective, with similar or the same characters, plus new ones, would be the best approach. I was also thinking that perhaps a prelude might gain some support.
Think on these two plots: Dark Isle was about a civilization in which, in the future, vampires and werewolves have taken over as the dominant species', each having their own influence, and being in constant political struggles for more power over the other. The basic idea wasn't that they are necessarily physically struggling all the time, but the idea and the tension was always a factor. A supernatural cold war of sorts. Humans were living in hiding, some in towns that were scarcely populated and some in better hidden and often less populous areas, and many were "kept" and bred by the vampires in a "herd" for feeding, meaning villages were set up and controlled by the vampires to keep them from having to stray into areas of danger (areas where the werewolves held more power; to avoid physical war, of course) to feed. The vampires and werewolves were not conventional (crosses and holy water, not an issue, and other details were instituted--discussion can take place later, if anyone is interested; if not, then why waste the time writing it out) but their origins were in the legends. DI-2 would be a sequel to this, starting either, directly after or a time after the first one, or taking place instead of the first, to avoid the confusion of the loose ends in the first one.
The other (DI-3--or 2, depending on the following garnered by the idea above) would take place as a prelude to everything, in a modern day, when the vampires and werewolves are waiting to take power, not knowing yet what the future would hold, but living day to day in secrecy. The idea here is that they would be in the same struggle between vampire and werewolf, and headed for greater things in terms of their place in the world, but still living in hiding of both the sun and the still-dominant humans. This one would be more like a modern day vampire story, but with numbers and loyalties and whatnot being an issue...
Let me know what you think, guys, and if you're interested or have any questions, just ask...

*ears perking up* Did you say vampires and werewolves? *humming ‘these are a few of my favorite things...'* Oh I am so sold on a sequel, great idea!:D :D :D

Crysede's interested? Hell, I'll do it.

It's such a shame everyone else left Dark Isle. Yes, the sex is still going on, I'm actually afraid to end it, cause after that, there's nothing for our two characters to do... except more sex.
Than, I, as a moderator, would be forced to move it to SRP. And I don't want to do that...

Anyway, enough of me.

I'll play, for the DI:2 plot, a similiar character. Some post rebellious loner who's only cause is survival.

As for DI:3, maybe some ignorant guy, who doesn't believe that all of these tales of monsters, as numbers of mysterious killings keep popping up. Oh well, just a thought.
I love monsters, but I don't think I could do either justice. I have too many prejudices against werewolves and vampires, I would probably type cast it too much. There's no way you can type cast a human.

Cool...

It's nice to see some interest already...

I think I'll bring Javen back for both of them, if they work out that is, and maybe a few of the other characters from the old one for the direct sequel. Definitely the Prince, though he may not be a prince this time. The "Kingdoms" thing got under my skin. I didn't like the idea that one character could directly control another, as a king could.
No, you don't have to be familiar with the old thread to play this one
Just wanted to get that out of the way. That's a common problem with branch threads...but not this one (these two?).
Anyway, I think the old one died out because everyone was on a different plotline. Some of us were fighting a war between kings, some fighting the "blade demon"--we'll try to keep those at bay this time--and some were on other plots (myself included in this area).
We'll try to be less diversive this time.
If anyone's interested, in bringing back old characters or making new ones, let's start posting, and let us know which thread idea you're interested in...

Actualy, to tell the truth, I was just bullshitting around until someone brought a plot to me. I wasn't sure quite what to do with my character, which is probably why I stayed back at first. By the time a plot came to me, everyone else had left.
Oh well.
Let's do hope this one goes better. Or, at least good.

I'm definatly interested in DI2 and 3. I will not bring my character back though, I want to play a more toned down role.

*weg* So,... just which of my many interests are you offering to take part in then?;):D

I'd like to play a female human in the DI2 thread, maybe living in one of the vampires' herds, or maybe in one of the hidden human settlements. I'll have to think about DI3, if they are both going to run at the same time I'd better just stick to one - I seem to be in, or about to be in, an awful lot of threads at the moment, and I've got to keep at least a little time free for school work (darn RL).

I only joined registered about a week ago, so I missed out on Dark Isle, but it sounds great. I might be interested in a prequel set in modern day. But could I play a "demon hunter" so to speak; a mysterious being (kinda like Vampire Hunter D) fighting to stop the overthrow of power?
If not, I might just wait to see where the plot starts going, then decide.

Well if there is a DI2 and 3 coming out then you can count me in although I don't want to be the same character that I was.

I would rather be a vampire this time but I will definitely be a part of this one.

Yeah...the sequel seems the way to go...alright, let's post some characters...I think I'll bring back Javen and Reuben...I'll post them later...

QC, what did you think of my character from the last DI I was thinking about sending his brother back to DI to find him. His brother would be some kind of religous guru so he would be somewhat of a pacifist. Either way I want a human character in it as well.

I'll play a young woman, I'm not sure where she'll be from though - but she'll either be living in one of the vampires' herds or in one of the hidden settlements, right now I'm leaning towards a hidden settlement.

Name: Teril
Race: Human (female)
Age: 20
Appearance: 5'9", long brown hair, hazel eyes

Okay...

A quick note...the first one was set in the future, though the technological levels were actually downgraded some...meaning there were cars and whatnot, including guns and other modern weapons (let's keep the missile and nuclear weapons out of this, huh?), but production on most materials had stopped, given that the humans weren't in position to keep large factories and such in production without the werewolves and vampires knowing. Also, the vampire control the herds, and the werewolves tend to feed off strays and animals.
In terms of the vampires, there are Bloods and Half-Bloods. Bloods are those that are "naturally born" meaning bred and given birth to by vampires, due to regular mating. Half-Bloods are those that were once human but have been changed into vampires. While no physical confrontations have taken place, there is high tension between these two groups, almost a second cold war as such.
Werewolves have more than one typ eas well, as many players like to be able to change forms from human to wolf...so werewolves are shape-shifters, Lycanthropes I mean, and half-wolves are those constantly in werewolf form.
If we're going with the same setting, I just figured we should all understand it. I probably said all that before, but...
Anyway...

Character profiles:

Name: Javen
Age: 212 years
Height: 6' even
Weight: 180 lbs.
Breed: Vampire; half-blood (not full-blooded vampire, but the creation of one vampire feeding).
Eye color: black, but they shine red when he's feeling severe emotions (anger, joy, fear...etc)
Hair color: Dark brown, long to mid-back.

Bio: Javen is one of the youngest of those on Dark Isle. He is the son of Jade, who fed off of him almost two-hundred years ago. He remembers only vague images of his life as a human. The "prince" of the half-blood, Javen is most despised by "Prince" Volmorth, who leads a group of Bloods (vampires who were born the offspring of two vampires--natural births. Bloods have NEVER been human, but were born vampires). Though Jade (his "mother") is still his guiding light, Javen mostly acts of his own accord. He is thought of as the leader of the half-blood, who are greatly outnumbered by the Bloods and not often respected by them.

Name: Reuben
Race: Half-wolf--Werewolf that is constantly in a state of half-change, capable of coming out day or night without consequence. This is not a lycanthrope, but a constant being that does not change. Half-wolves are often very large, up to eight feet, but usually between 6 and 7, wolf creautes that stand on two legs like a man.
Age: Unknown
Location: A member of one of the tribes of wolves. This particular tribe aren't involved in the cold war with the vampires, but exist at war with anyone who invades their space. They are nomads that travel and go about their own business without much need of others.

If I should make any changes or if I've lost anyone, let me know...

PM Tick...

I didn't mind your old character at all...Lucas, right? He was good, but I think we should steer away from the old path we were taking and let the kingdoms idea go...it'd be cool to leave the implication that someone should be in power (which I might do with the Prince from the last one, if he even makes an appearance, and which is implied with Javen's "Prince of the Half-Bloods" title--he has no REAL power at all, just an influence) or that they feel they should be the leaders, or to make them the leader of a clan or tribe or whatnot, but not kings and Princes (just my opinion...the idea's still on the table, of course, as all ideas are yet). Probably somethng else I said before and keep repeating...I think I'm getting ADD...I can't remember anything I just said...
In terms of you bringing in his brother...why not? Works for me if it works for everyone else...

I would love to play, though Wrathlance, having already advanced to Daemon and sent to another world, will not be appearing. Instead, I shall be taking the role of a Balor(For ADD people), or a Demonic noble. It has been chosen to assault this planet, and is leading a small attack force. The attack force consists of 10 minor Balors, 20 Marillith, 50 Hezrou, 80 Vrocks, and 150 Dretches.

Character:
Race: Demon(Balor)
Name: Grisnarg
Height: 12 ft
Eyes: Black
Skin: Scaly, red
Weapons: Massive claws, flames around body, whip, sword of flame.
Rank: Minor Baron

yeah I was thinking having his brother arrive and basically say that Lucas was lying. There was no war going on in Africa and he wasn't representing any kingdom. Lucas was exiled and floated to the island. I'll post a bio when it gets closer to starting.

Okay...

Works for me, PM...let's see if we can get it moving in the next few days.

Morgoth...problem...actually, two or three, and I don't mean to bitch too much (though, if I have a talent...), but the deal's this:

One, Balors, marillith, Hezrou, Vrocks and Dretches...five words I've never heard before...we can't ask people to go through a mythological or demonic histories reading list in order to participate...six months ago, we could afford to lose players to something like this, but now, the board's too slow...

Two, the demon thing didn't work in the first one...it wasn't too horribly bad, but it was very separate from the rest...

Three, anyone who's played in my threads, especially after the brief debate we had in Calamus, may remember that I don't incorporate religion into the threads, at least not as a staple of the plotline...characters may believe what they believe, that's characterization more than anything, but a demon being used as a primary character is catering to religion, mostly because demons are representative in most people's minds as a servant of satan, therefore...linking them directly to christianity...

If the other players disagree, then so be it, but let's try not to get too powerful with the characters...there's no point in all honesty...no one else can make decisions for your character regardless. I'm open to discussion on ths though...so don't be too discouraged...compromise is always best...

Ok here's my character, can't wait to begin :)

Name: Theo
Type: Were-Cat (Jaguar)
Age: 32

Theo has come to the isle in search of his brother Lucas (from DI one). Unlike Lucas, Theo is somewhat of a pacifist, being trained as a monk. After Theo arrives on the island, he learns that his brother told several lies about his past. Theo seeks to find Lucas and bring him back to Africa, after aplogizing for misleading everyone.

Like all were creatures Theo is pretty strong but in addition he can also move very quickly when in Were-Jaguar form. However he never starts a fight or kills, for any reason.

QC quick question, what kind of time period are we dealing with? Just trying to figure out what my character would wear, if he would have a watch or not, etc.

I would love try being a werewolf just tell me the rols about the shape changing the wecness that sort of thing. If you wont me that is

okay...

Pm Tick, the time period is in the future, so the character can have anything that already exists, so long as it's not too high-tech...we'll leave the projectile weapons to the humans, etc. But watches and whatnot...no problem.

Nightray, there really aren't rules, but so far, we've got characters that change from human to wolf form and back, and characters that are constantly in mid-change, though i think Rueben is the only one. No full moon type rules or anything like that, though you're welcome to use that if you like. I'm thinking I might.
Welcome aboard...

Ok tell me if this is exeptable

Name: Shadow claw
Age: 25
Looks: Human 6’6 210 ponds no fat black hair silver eyes. Mid change: 7 feet tall 250 jet black fear all over eyes sliver surrounded with gold. Full wolf: 6 feet at the shoulder 200 ponds Black fear can blend in with the shadows eyes silver serenaded by gold.
Skills: he’s an expert with blades knifes swords throwing stars that sort of thing also with hand to hand combat he was trained as an assign.
Power: He can change any time but the closer to the fool moon he get the stronger faster and more agile he becomes but he has a harder time controlling hem self on the full moon if you exit hem to much he will loss control.
Personality: keeps to hem self most of the time slow to anger unless there is a fool moon on full moons he is lushly some where by hem self meditating so he doesn’t go berserk.
Past: only he now and he ant talking

Sounds good, nightray

Maybe save some of the sword and throwing stars bit though, if he can change into a wolf that size, what would he possibly want to use weapons for? Why would he even learn?
Just my input though...remember that the humans can use weapons such as shotguns and whatnot...future, but not futuristic...those things are available to them...
