Casting Call: A Private Dick

This will be a different kind of role play. I want to set that up right now. I will be playing a GM, of sorts. I will be the master of all that happens in the world. I play all of the characters you need to interact with, create all of the places you need to go. I will write what you see, what you don't see, what you notice, what comes out at you.

I will guide you through the world, as you go about it, trying to solve the crime.

A murder. A man lays dead in a drying pool of his own blood. The police are baffled, and the greiving widow has hired you to find out whoever did this.

So, what I'm looking for is a bit of a noir detective story. It will start with a detective agency, old, run down, in debt, on your last legs. Two old lovers but still partners run it. A man and a woman.

So, I need a man and a woman.

Apart from that, I would need a couple of other main characters to keep it interesting. Perhaps a cop (male or female) and one of the relatives (again, male or female) Whichever one turns out male, the other will inevitably be female, as to even things out for everyone.

All I want from you are interesting characters, unique, different, able to fit perfectly into a film noir detective story. I'd like some decent writers, not just in it for the sex, who are willing to explore a little bit and have some fun searching for clues and finding out the mystery.

Hello. Interesting idea and i'd like to take part in it. I don't think i can take any of the detectives, I'd preffer to be the relative in it.

I could be the younger sister of the dead man. We didn't have a good relation since the inheritance of our parents, who died several years ago in a car accident. We hardly had any contact in the last few years.
So these are my character stats.

Lucy, 24 y.o.
5'5'' 115 lbs, brown hair green eyes, 32 C 23 34.
Takes a good care of her body, where her firm ample boobs stand out in her tiny slim figure. Full body tanned obtained in her private pool where she sunbath in the nude for no unconfortable tanlines.
Agressive sales representative from a pharmaceutical international holding.
Single, attractive, she uses her sexy looks and any tactics needed to sell her products and grow her incomes.

This is your game, poohlive, so i hope you like my character or make any change to it as you please. I also hope this game gets to start and we can enjoy it.

It does look perfect, thank you for joining. I don't see a need to change it, since you've grown apart from your brother, and have had little contact with him.

I'll let you know as the story goes, through PM's and whatnot what little you do know about him, and what could be useful (or not.. ha ha)

Only thing I would like to see is some sort of flaw in your character. An addiction of some kind, pain killer, alcohol, sex? Up to you, but it would be lots more fun if she had an addiction.

That's good.
As sex adiction seems to me too typical here (the problems of a sex forum lol ), i guess Lucy can have some kind of alcohol adiction.
She's not always drunk, but she start drinking some wine for breakfast, champagne at lunch, and bourbon as day goes on, finishing quite late at night having a high amount of alcohol running thru her body.
Lucy needs her white wine in the morning and a basic dosis all day long, to be kind of happy, and not in her sober unppleasant mood.

appearance: slight, lean, willowly and fairly strong, in good & shape jogs.

College grad & law degree (Criminal Justice) Didn't like the day to day routine or the court room. Became a P.I. when it was popular and fashionable. Does a good job but business is slow, in debt, broke and still in love with the same woman for thirty years. I currently sleep in the office on the couch. Have two suits in the closet, white dress shirts (no ties) Scuffed black shoes.

I never have any money because I like to gamble. Someone is always looking for me for money that I owe. I am licenced to carry and I do. A new 9mm and 44 revolver.

Besides, I'd rather have more girls than guys. That way I can play a couple of guy npc's and have my fun as well.

Clara "Limb" Drummond
Age: 41
Height 5'5
Weight: 134
Eyes: like dark honey.
Hair: brown and short all around her head.
Appearance: Thin and slender like bamboo, but also pale and fragile like glass.

Clara (although she prefers to be called Claire) is, or was, one of the top detectives of the department. An enthusiast, she threw herself into her job like a kid into a pool. But, five years ago she was involved with an accident while pursuing a suspect. Her car was smashed, and the engine caught fire, exploding. The shraphnel peppered the right side of her body just as she tried to get out of the wreck. Five years later, her right arm and leg still bear the scars and burn marks of the accident.

If that wasn't bad enough, her nervous system is a wreck. She needs to support herself with a crutch constantly, because her leg has lost nearly all feeling and motion functions. Nevermind that she has to have powerful pain-killers always in hand, because of the horrible pains that visit her every few days. These tend to numb her so much, that her body reacts almost as if it was drunk, her reasoning and mobility impaired for the few hours it takes for the pain to end, and the analgesics to wear off. Usually, she has to return to her home and forget about any work for what's left of the day.


Her family life is completely and irreversibly fucked. Her husband and her had a fight some time after her accident because of its sequels, and her husband got the children at court. Now, she lives alone in a spacious and horribly empty appartment, and can only see her children one afternoon every week. Because she couldn't care after them in an emergency, she has to go see them at her husband's home, and meet his new wife, a model working for some big-name magazine who can't stand looking at the creepy, crippled ex-wife that reminds her that life can become hell in any moment.

Needless to say, Clara is quite bitter about it all. But she likes self-pitying herself too much to really look at the nice things she still can live for. She already has been to the hospital for overdose twice, and Clara still is not sure if she was really trying to commit suicide unconsciously, or if it was an accident...

Would your king pin Johnny need a girl? Crime bosses always seem to have one. I would love to join in if you need another woman.

Here was my thought, I could be used to get to Johnny or be used by Johnny to get to one of the cops.


Maddie Linden
- She is in her early twenties. Maggie grew up poor and fatherless. Men became her way out. She is a clever girl, even if she isn't well educated. She has connected herself with a powerful man to feel like she has more control over her life. But really she is with a brutish and controlling man that likes to show her off and isn't above using her.

Johnny plucked her out of strip joint where she was a cocktail waitress. Sexy enough to be on the catwalk, but not confident enough. A woman who feels like she doesn't deserve her man is more to his liking. Easier to bend.

Maddie is a good looking girl. Sleek long legs, trim body. She worries she isn't enough, and she is eager to please. Curly dark hair frames her little girl face, but she definitely is built like a woman. She has expressive and often wounded blue eyes. She has a scar from a knife down the side of her right breast from the last time she packed a bag and threatened to leave Johnny.

Maddie is the sort of girl that draws protective feelings out of men that get to know her, but she is also the sort of girl that drives good men crazy because time after time she goes back to the men that are so very bad for her.

Johnny whores Maddie out. He uses her, and in every way.He makes her fuck other guys for money, for bets. He has some customers who like specific things, things most regular prostitutes won't do.

He also makes her play his inside girl. She'll pretend to be weak and hurt, get some guy to help her, sleep with him, so Johnny can come in and either strong arm him or do whatever he needs. She has become very good at her job, very submissive.

Whatever Johnny tells her to do, she does it. She is learning many skills under him, including how to use a gun, open locked doors...

I'm going to say yes. Even though I hadn't thought much of Johnny entering the scene any more than an antagonist for Woody. Maybe we can play with it though, make Johnny a more regular character. Who knows, fun twists are what this kind of story is all about.

I wasn't sure if I made myself clear on the way this thread is going to go, how it will be different from others. I'm sorry, let me try to explain it better so you can understand.

I write: You are in a room, there is a desk, a lamp and a door.

You write: I jump up to the window to see if it's light or dark outside.

Well, that doesn't work. See, cause I didn't write there was a window in the room. The room only has a door. As the GM I set up some things which are very specific, detailed so that it makes you interact with the scene and find out what is going on.

Let's say you are in this room, and you want to know what's in the desk. You don't have to write an entire post saying you search the desk for anything important. You can just PM me, and if there is anything, I will tell you. Sometimes it will be important, sometimes it won't.

But, you can't assume there is something in the desk, a gun or love letters or something special to your case. Hell, you don't even know if the desk is locked or not.

This thread is different from others because you are limited to controlling just what your character does, nothing more. You don't control the environment, the other characters, what you do find, what you can do, that will be done by me (or a collaboration of both of us, which I hope to happen).

Now, there are certain things. You can control where your character lives, the apartment complex or whatnot. But everything else is my mystery, adding up to the plot I'm laying out for all of you.

If you have simple things, like trying to look into a desk (or trying to crack a safe or searching for clues in a room, interacting with some hotel lobby usher who just tells you where room 113 is) pm me and I'll tell you important information, if there is any to tell. Then you can just write it into your post and we'll move on.

I hope this doesn't put anyone off to this game. It is a lot of fun, and you'll find the restrictions more intense and interesting. I mean, you don't know if lying to the mafia goons will result in you getting away, or having your fingers cut off, or an old fashioned fist fight or what. I hope that's some fun suspense everyone can deal with.

When you put yourself in the GM position, I more or less expected the RP to work that way. Classic RP mechanics.
