You’re going to hear some more stories from the Olympics about small “private airplanes” being forced down
“for flying over Olympic sites.” OK --- first of all, these pilots should be aware of the temporary flight restrictions
in effect at the Olympics and they should be punished if they violate those restrictions. But … you folks at home
need to know that these planes that are “forced to land” are not necessarily “flying over” Olympic sites. The flight
restrictions go out as far as 45 miles from these Olympic sites. This means an aircraft that is completely out of
sight of all spectators – and who’s pilot couldn’t see an Olympic site if he had a telescope – could still be forced
down. When and if that does happen, you can be sure that the cute little anchor babes will tell you that the
airplane was “over an Olympic site.”

Better safe than sorry.

i agree with and the writer boortz agrees with the no fly zone.

the point he is making is the way these downed planes will be reported by the media

Everything the media reports is slanted. It's up to the individual watching to better educate themselves to learn to sift through the BS and do some of their own investigating if they feel it's important enough.

I agree that this is yet another way to heighten the "panic nation" in which we already live, but this has been going on since the dawn of television.

People who choose to take everything they hear and see at face value only perpetuate the embellishments; wake up, people.
