The focus in the investigation of the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart in Utah has now turned to a so-called “handyman” named Richard Ricci. Handyman my posterior. Ricci is a crook. A career criminal with a thirty-year crime records. The list is ugly. There’s attempted murder of a police officer, armed robbery, burglary, escape … you name it.
Ricci has escaped from jail twice. He received a life sentence for that attempted murder of a police officer. He has failed repeatedly at parole .. his most recent parole being in the year 2000.
Can someone please tell me why a man with a 30-year record of crime is not permanently locked away in jail? What was this man doing out on yet another parole? Can’t we recognize that there is a point where a person should just be locked away for the rest of their worthless life for the protection of society?
Who knows if Ricci had anything to do with Smart’s kidnapping. Perhaps not. The question remains, though. Why isn’t this man still in jail? For good?
