Does anybody know anything about timing chains?

Hubby has a theory that if you take the cap and rotor off, and crank the engine, that would tell you if the timing chain is broken. If it is, then the rotor would not turn. If it is not broken, then the rotor would turn. Any thoughts?

Sorry about this.

Hubby is right. The distributor is driven by the camshaft, which is driven by the timing belt/chain. If the distributor isn't turning, neither is the camshaft.

Whether you are doing it yourself or having a shop fix it, front-wheel drive is going to be a whole lot harder to do because the engine is mounted sideways.

Have fun. :)

Ooookay. Well, it's a moot point, anyway. The truck is now at the shop.

Thanks, Bigdog. Was just making the post, and saw you had posted.
