For the chain story, one of my characters is named Cristoforo de Medici. (Yes, those Medicis.) If I want to start a sentence with de Medici, do I capitalize the first letter of his name, even if it usually goes without a capital?

de Medici stood next to the bed.

or

De Medici stood next to the bed.

I have a feeling it must be the latter, but I thought I'd ask.

According to WitchsKat (who spent a semester in Florence), it is always De Medici -- capitalized.

CL! Bless you for telling me that! I hate being inaccurate. THANK YOU. Problem solved.
