Still being tourists, now, since we couldn't work.

The first one is a view of the street in Belize City at the base of the Swing Bridge. It was taken because of the cool sign which you can never, of course, read. It was on the front of this drugstore:

LICENSED DISPENSER OF DRUGS AND POISONS

it said, with a little skull-and-crossbones. It's the white oblong with the black lettering.

On the river by the Swing Bridge is the terminal for the water taxi to the cayes. You see me standing by the rail in this place. It was an hour to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye or a half hour to Caye Caulker. The boat held maybe twenty-four people and would have been powered by outboards. Two 300-horse or three 200-horse was about normal.

At the Caye, I and a few adventurous souls chartered a boat to go snorkeling over the barrier reef, while others prowled the doubtless picturesque streets of the little town there.

We see the view from the outdoor tables at The Sandbox Bar and Grill, looking toward the ocean

And the view from the boat looking over the passengers. I took that to capture this enchanting little girl, sleeping across her mother's lap. Her father has the doll with the pacifier in its mouth. The boat was pounding over the waves, vibrating like hell, but the photo came out quite well all the same. Fast film.
