I keep getting the message:

Check query parameters. The should validate field is required.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

That's not an error on your side. That's an SQL error, and that looks like a "Laurel Only" field from what I'm seeing. It's not something you can affect.

I put my contest story in just before midnight, and it was approved to go live tomorrow sometime in the last four hours, so this is probably something very recent.

Might be worth clearing your browser's cache and retrying, and/or removing your story and adding it again. It's a very vague error and I have no idea what it means, but doing one (or both) of the above might help if the problem is on your side.

It's happening to me and several others today. Looks like it's something the Web site has to fix when they realize nothing is being submitted.

Other people have reported the same problem in the tech support forum.

I have removed and replaced story five times already.

Like I said, my suggestions would only work if it's on your side. As Keith pointed out, seems to be a server-side problem so in that case there's nothing we can do about that. Hope they fix it soon, I still need to submit my Winter contest story once I put the finishing touches on it. Me and my poor planning skills...

You can't try to salvage a submission by clicking "Save Draft" either. I had another one ready to go, so I gave it a shot.

Submission is completely down.

The system has taken one of my submissions, so it may be fixed.

Able to get mine through as well.

I had a brief moment of "Oh, nice" when it popped up an alert that said, you started a submission without completing it. Would you like to open it?

Hell yes.

Everything was there, and I thought I was going to get out of having to retype all the keywords, etc. Scroll down, hit preview.

Page can't be found. :: Insert Price Is Right losing sound effect here ::

So, I entered everything again and it went through without a hitch.

I just tried to post one. No go. Same error message as Ogg.

That's obviously a custom error message only meant to be seen by someone who knows exactly how the database is organized. It was never meant to be a user side error message. It's not going to mean much to anyone except the person who wrote it, and even less to anyone without some SQL knowledge.

The good news is that there were a bunch of us trying to submit in a block, so there's probably a solid set of time-stamp data to help track down when things went wonky within a tight time frame this time.

Sorry about the issue. We rolled out an update that we hope will fix this.

If you had problems earlier, can you re-check it now and let us know if you're still experiencing any issues?

Thank you! :D

I had an issue with it yesterday early afternoon, but I was able to submit as normal later yesterday evening. (Before TxRad reported just then being denied, though, so the issue may be coming and going.) I don't have a post date for mine yet, so won't be sure the submission took until then.

Minor issue:

But when submitting a story and selecting the category, the list of topics are all jumbled up and no longer in alphabetical order.

I'm only seeing it now upon submitting a story.

Not with submission but logging into the author panel with IE 11. Just keeps taking me back to the login page. Windows Edge works fine.

I went to try and post mine again a few minutes ago and found it had actually saved last time although RR said his didn't.

It is now submitted.

I noticed the same problem with Internet Explorer. This is the same problem that came up in August this year. I have been able to use Google Chrome just fine.

Internet explorer is weird and a pain to develop for (speaking from personal experience as I did some webdevelopment work in the past). Things that work everywhere else regularly break on that browser. And now that it's been replaced by Edge I'm pretty sure it's not being updated anymore either, so that's not getting better anytime soon. People really shouldn't use it anymore, although that's no excuse not to have your website work properly on it. Just saying I know the pain of fixing Internet Explorer-specific bugs.

We could get into a debate about this. I just got weaned off 9 never mind 11. It took my old computer making a career change into a doorstop to do it.

But the IE toolbars are user friendly compared to Edge. I save a ton of links to use later and Edge is a bitch for that. As is Chrome with it's desire to save it in an app.

The entire Windows 10 environment is more designed for social media, news and shopping than working. One of the reasons why so many businesses have been fighting a rear-guard action by keeping 7 till the very last minute.
