Did you hear that the McCartney / Mills wedding bash cost close to a cool $3 million (U.S.)! Gasp! 
To me, this sounds incredibly self indulgent and insensitive. McCartney claims to be a humanitarian. How can he possibly justify spending $3 million dollars when there are so many homeless people suffering around the world?
Linda McCartney is surely turning over in her grave. I am certain she would never have agreed to such a depraved extravagance in her lifetime. In fact, when Paul wed Linda it was at a small civil ceremony (one can probably estimate the total cost to have been approximately $100!).
Linda was a great humanitarian in my view – and I believe it was her influence over Paul that steered him in that direction, too.
I am a big fan of Paul McCartney and I realize that he still donates to a lot of charties, etc. .. but that is not really the point here.
Sir Paul and Heather certainly deserved a luxurious wedding – but perhaps they could have tried keeping the cost down a wee bit. Such decadent spending only shows them in a crass light.
Humanitarians? Not bloody likely with spending like that!
