I've logged in and gone to the User CP and selected "edit Profile" and entered my password. All that comes up is "no update to subscribed threads" I select "edit profile" again and it sends me to the same enter password screen.

Help!

This has been broken for years. Many people have added details to their signature block in lieu of a profile.

It's an interesting state for those of us who were able to make profiles. Now our Lit personas are stuck in this weird time warp, forever stuck as the person we were six years ago (or whenever it broke).

I know, it's so frustrating! I used to change my profile info every few months and then suddenly it just got frozen in time.

So glad I found this thread. I thought I was just being stupid when I tried to upload my profile. Now I know the problem I'll sleep east:) Pity, it can't be fixed.

Removing Photo From Signature

I just reached the point where I could add a signature and mistakenly put my photo there too. When I go back to "Edit Signature" there is a box that says "Remove Photo" and so I check it and nothing changes. Not really that big of a deal but every time I post it's there. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

I got it!

After a lot of screwing around for an hour I figured it out...I think! If anyone else has that specific issue I might be able to help.

I had thought the admins weren't allowing people to do this... not that I mind; my profile could probably use a bit of updating as well, as a matter of fact.

So is it the profile section where we would have added an avatar image?
Were it not disabled?

I think I just found the answer to my own question. I saw comments elsewhere that the avatar feature is restricted to accounts with over 100 posts.
So never mind :)

I tried years ago to get Edit Profile fixed.
I just shot Laurel a post about this. She's also listed as an Admin. Maybe if we flood her with messages, she can push to get it fixed. Very annoying. I can see the code and it's an easy fix.

Not interested in avatar or picture editing. Just want to update what my profile says since I can't see it. Things have changed and I want change what it says. Very frustrating not to have access. I'm getting IMs for all the wrong reasons now.

Very frustrating not to have access. What you write when you first sign up you should be able to change later.

I wish we could edit our profiles. I like to think people know what they are getting into, heehee. But I just get a reset password page when I click on the edit profile link. :(

Just hit 100 posts. I can confirm you receive access to avatar and profile picture editing.
I just passed 100 this morning. Are you required to log out, then log back in to receive access or does it happen in its own good time?

I had only an abbreviated profile when I began at the end of last year. My first attempt to expand allowed some changes but wouldn't let me add more info. Since then, I've been allowed to make wholesale changes without difficulty, including one this morning.

Earlier this summer I was permitted to add an over-century-old photo of the "I Don't Care Girl" - Eva Tanguay - to my profile, although I'm uncertain how widely it can be seen.

My interest in the formerly celebrated Miss Tanguay is based solely upon two obscure facts: 1) her tenuous connection to the area where I live and 2) the photo's remarkable similarity to Janis Joplin on the "Pearl" album cover. I sure don't share her personality (beyond the occasional need to tell the world to fuck off). My druthers favored a sideview nude of someone with whom my wife has a deep fascination - Louise Brooks - but I was unable to get that one to go.

It can be a few hours, possibly overnight. Whenever the system updates again.
