Can't hardly turn around these days without reading articles on how Viagra has led to rampant sex (and STDs...use condoms, gramps!) in seniors homes.

The time-line is wrong. If the scene is now, and he is, say, 70 years old, then in the sexually permissive 1960s and 70s he was in his 20s and 30s and it is an odds-on certainty that he had blow jobs then. The pill wasn't generally available to unmarried girls so mutual oral sex was very popular as being safe but thrilling.
