A few friends of mine were planning to camp in Quetico for a week, and one of them was arrested for DUI earlier this summer. How do these 2 relate? The guy with the DUI just found out Canada won't let him in because it's considered a felony. What the FUCK? I'm not saying what he did was right, quite the opposite, actually, he messed up big, but here's the real kicker. He hasn't even had his court date yet, so technically he's still innocent, or so I thought. Still, he talked to the Consolate, and he can't cross the border. If he tries, even if he's not driving, he's locked up in International Falls if he gets caught.

What a load of shit. So Canucks...what gives? Your government wants American's money without the pesky hassle of having the Americans in the country or what?

yes it sucks big time but I am thinking it would be the same if it was reversed.
If you have something pending they probably do not want that person leaving the country.
I don't agree with it but that is not the first time I disagree with the idiots running this country.

That's exactly my point. It's NOT reversed. In America, if a Canadian had a goddamn murder charge pending he'd still be let in until he was proven guilty. Well, maybe not murder, but you know what I mean.

if you are on bail for murder , dont they take your passport over there?

Last I know, If a Canadian as warrants against him, unpaid tickets etc.. He/she cannot cross the Canadian border to the US.

Since when have they done background checks at the border though? Last time i crossed they asked where i was from, where i was going, and why? That was it...has it changed that much in the last 8 years?

To let you know... And I hope this helps..

Most Provinces in Canada have become a no talerance(not sure on spelling) act. Meaning if you are either Canadian or Visitor you and you have a DUI or any impared charge... It is a felony automatically... Plus most Canadians would also lose theere license on the spot... They are trying to do this to stop people from drinking and driving......

Hope it helps...

And its Quebec...
