Hundreds of Americans wash up illegally in Canada after river party

About 1,500 Americans floating down a river that separates the United States from Canada had to be rescued from the water when strong rains and winds sent them illegally into Canadian territory, the country’s coast guard said on Monday.

The Americans were taking part in the annual Port Huron Float Down on Sunday in the St. Clair River, which runs between the U.S. state of Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario.

This was not an escape from the election process, they say.

Never travel in Michigan without your passport and a waterproof wallet. Same goes for upstate New York, Washington and Alaska.

Can you imagine the histrionics if it had been the other way? If Yank refugees flee Il Donald a few at a time they may get sent back. But en masse it would be more difficult. Guess those folks now have an inkling of what the Mediterranean refuges go through. A tiny inkling though.

Some Americans, worried about landing in Canada without identification, attempted to swim back to the U.S.

"We had to pull a lot of people out of the water and say 'no,'" he said. "They were very upset, cold and miserable."

The news doesn't always have to be tragic or of super political importance. Media has to appeal to a broad range of readers and viewers. After all they are in the business to sell newspapers and make profits not enlighten us with social important facts. That's just the bait on the hook.

I agree but think that the media would be more profitable if they actually talked about what is actually happening instead of parroting the 'party line' and hyping the propaganda that flows from our spin misters.

Is one of the reasons I like state sponsored media like the CBC. CBC's mandate is cultural promotion not profit. There are budgetary constraints though. A good democratic country has no real issues with state TV being all pro gov. CBC, BBC, and ABC (Aussie) if anything seem quite willing to tackle the ruling government. Maybe that is what's sells?

CBC does come across as quite lefty. No matter how hard the Conservatives try to rein it in to the right or center. But again the lefty liberal cultural promotion will drag them left. We are a lefty country with a righty governance and economy. I really like the CBC. Excellent programming everywhere radio, TV, and web. Love the Canada first aspect too. Really gives smaller artists a chance. We are only a 10th the US population and profits can drive Canadian networks, channels, and sites to buy the more readily available US products.

CRTC Canadian content rules have my full backing too.

The CBC does use propaganda though. Try find a complimentary picture of Il Donald on their news pages. This is likely to it's leftist bent than any orders from political masters. Although if the two correspond I could see collusion.

Just run them through same process as the Syrian Muslims. No single males and vet them for membership in radical organizations like the NRA and GoP.
