Canada's Boycott of USA: full steam ahead

I gotta ask: This is a joke, right?

We Americans tried renaming French fries to freedom fries and that didn’t go over well. Is the every day Canadian on the street as politically aware as these clips make them appear to be? And if so, then we here in America don’t want you as the 51st state! 😡. You seemingly have way too many middle class to possibly poor white folks that are too intelligent to be a part of the gullible, trump backing, rubes here known as maga. GFY Canada!

Also, it’s now Putin not poutine. Glad to help you out with that.

it's interesting to see how many Americans are completely oblivious to the damage being caused by their government's inane tariffs war against Canada. Within weeks, they will be feeling the pain. They think eggs are expensive for them now? they are clueless with regards to the level of damage this will cause to the US economy.

the funniest part is hearing the US government and press stating that the "tarriffs" will be paid by Canadians! , duh!
It's the other way around...

Ironically, Protectionism and Trump style Tarrifs is exactly how the defunct USSR ran their economy!

on the contrary: Free Market Capitalism is based on Free-Trade.

How can Macro-Economy 101, or Capitalism 101 be so ignored by their MAGA leaders?

Who the fuck told you that Canadians want to be a State? What or Whom gave you that stupid idea?

here's a detailed explanation of what is going on, and how the shit is about to hit the fan for USA.

Americans still thinking that this is a joke should ask Kentucky's (Republican) Senators to explain it to them in plain language.

Soaring Unemployment, Soaring Inflation... enjoy it.

Trump keeps hinting at it.

Of course, if Canada were part of the U.S., it would be ten states. Ten provinces, ten states. Twenty senators. From a much more leftier political culture than the U.S. was when it only had 50 states. You haven't thought this through, Donald!

I respect the sovereignty of Canada.
These tariffs by trump are unnecessary and stupid. But…
And I know this is going to really hurt you to tell you this, but I’m sure you will agree - the only reason the term ‘war’ should be used between the US and our friends up north is because we’ve owned your precious Stanley Cup for the last 31 years.

no you have not, the Stanley Cup is a team sport where every year the name of every player from the winning team is engraved on the Stanley Cup, more Canadian players' names are engraved on that Cup than any other nationality, even during the past 31 years...

NHL Hockey is a good example of a $ trade imbalance between USA and Canada. American owners PAY the most $$$, and Canadian players collect the most $$$. ;) thanks for the $$$, we will gladly collect it.

Of course, this is a joke thread. There is no Canada.

One occasionally hears these silly rumors of an English-speaking -- or by some accounts, French-speaking -- country to the north of the U.S. The people supposedly put maple syrup on baked beans and gravy on cheese curds. Their national sport is ice hockey, of all things! And their police wear some kind of preposterous over-the-top gay bondage gear.

Needless to say, all this nonsense is pure UL. You'd have better luck finding the Seven Cities of Cibola!

The Canada EU free trade agreement ( ceta) has been building since about 2016.

I buy hungarian jam, spanish, portuguese , turkish fruit, etc.

I buy US made goods only as a last resort and more Canadians are moving that way.

Most American food products are poisoned anyway… thats why Canada resists American Dairy goods, by the way. Hormones and chemicals.

Monsanto dwarf wheat is responsible for american diabetes, obesity and declining lifespans.

Theyve killed millions, way more than opioids.

I heard Marco Rubio explain how Trump’s talk of Canada becoming the 51st state originated. In a conversation between Trump and Trudeau, the prime minister told the president that if he implemented his tariffs, Canada would cease to exist. Trump quipped that if Canada is that dependent on the US, it can become a US state.

Canada is obviously not going to become part of the US, but if that far fetched hypothetical scenario did materialize, what makes you think each province would be given statehood?

The first clip in the OP says it all. I don't blame Canadians for supporting their own country, maybe they should consider extending the same courtesy.

Now for some cold, hard, facts. US exports represent ~12% of our GDP. Of that 12% ~17% is represented by trade with Canada. Meaning that Canada represents ~2% of the US export market.

Conversely ~33% of Canada's GDP is derived from exports and ~75% of those exports are to the US. Meaning ~25% of Canada's GDP is derived from selling into the US markets.

Who has the problem?

You do!
60% of your petroleum products are made from Canadian oil. 100% of your potash for fertiliser comes from Canada. 25% of your Electricity comes from Canada. The automotive industry is so entwined, it's best to describe as "north american".

Canadians are the #1 tourists in the US, Canadians in the snowbird states own a substantial amount of the reality market. The tourism industry predicts 1.5 million job loses if the down turn being signalled by Trump's gaffs continue.

Real Estate, go check out Florida listings, and Arizona listings for example. Snowbirds are selling and new Canadians are not buying.

What you don't know about the financial relationship between the two countries is unfathomable

Damn and I totally forgot about lumber....

Here’s the problem with you and Marco Rubio between the members here who are true Americans - this should not be relayed to anyone as a quaint or whimsical story. You and Rubio are at your cores weak assed men unable to speak truth to insanity.
