i cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be

I can read it. Also, I have seen worse spelling in submitted Literotica stories!

The reason we can read that is being discussed in various ways. Sometimes it involves all the right letters being there, sometimes it involves the phonetic represenations being there. All in all if you read it kind of fast and skim it's simple, however if you're a slow reader, it may prove difficult or even near impossible.

That's why we often don't notice typos until it's too late.

I can read it, no problem...but I'm one of those "fast" readers. :)

I wonder at what reading level this ability kicks in. Younger children or, rather, new readers, would probably have a tough time with this.

wow. That's really cool. I read it without a problem. I, too, wonder what age that ability would generally kick in. My sons, ages 10 & 8, still read slowly. But, my 14yo is an avid reader and probably would not have any problem with it. I'll have to test her. LOL

That was good - I could read it too but I'm a speed reader and I also do a type of shorthand called speed writing where you skip letters to be able to write faster. :)

That must be what helped me, too. I've had speed reading courses and I had 3 years of shorthand writing where your mind learns to adapt to looking at things in different ways.

I never saw that whole paragraph written out with the mispelled words before. It was fascinating how it took really little effort to read it! No headache at all here. :D

What gives me a HEADACHE is the thread: My Skanky Neighbor
on the General Board...god that gives me a headache! LOL....

I could read it, but then I am fluent in pig-latin, which prolly helps.

I saw a pic of a protest once where school workers were on strike and demanding better pay, one sign caught my eye:
"Skool werkers deserve more money"
I was unconvinced of the truth of the claim.

I can read it. I'm an editor so that's a lot of my job anyway. "What the fuck are you trying to say here?"

I could read it with no problem -- of course, that's how I type also.

What is really strange is when I have to actually write something with a pen or pencil (even worse doing presentation where I'm writing on a board in front of an audience) I will start with the middle letters of a word and work out to either side.

I do the exact same thing. My boss has actually asked me if I was dyslexic when he saw me writing a check one day : /

It becomes a problem when I tranpose phone numbers and not relise my mistake until too late.

It probably helps that the sentences are logical and fairly predictable. You could probably tell what the next word should be before you even started to look at the letters.

If you just had a random sequence of words, misspelled as badly as this, I imagine it would be a lot tougher to read.

I could read it with no problem at all. Which is a bit scary since English is not my first language.

Perhaps the shorthand would be an explanation. I learned that in Dutch, French and English, although that was during the last Ice Age.

:D

I could read it.

But I've been reading and writing since I was twelve, and for some strange reason have the ability to read a new piece of writing out loud without stumbling or sounding like Ben Stein on the Visine commercials.

I r winner. :)

LOL I never do that. I'd be stumbling over the correct pronounciation far too much to concentrate on the message.

I'm not perfect at it. I read pretty fast too, and sometimes I'll be reading so fast that I'll stumble over my words and have to correct myself. ;)

Ha! But can you do it with an appropriate accent? :p

I don't see what the problem is. Were there supposed to have been spelling errors in it?
