Can you pee in the presence of someone else?

I'm known for some reasonably stupid questions, and this one's no different.

I was hiking in the blue mountains with two of my friends on the weekend (a guy and a girl). The trail was fairly public, and the first chance we had to stop and have a few beers we did.

After 3 cans (so tacky, I know) it was time to head back, with the obligatory urination.

My male friend turned his back to us and started, whilst my girlfriend simply squatted in front of me and began. I did the same, but the second I was fully exposed I clammed up and couldn't manage even a trickle.

By this stage her boyfriend finished and was now also watching and waiting, but nothing.

I've heard this can happen to guys, but until you experience it yourself ...... terrible!

Anyone had a similar experience?

Guys are used to the whole scenario, after all you have communal urinals (or do you in the US?)

Yes we do still have a few communal urinals in the US. They were very common when I grew up as was peeing out doors at my grandparents rural farm in front of any other males who needed to go. My father, uncles and cousins were not at all modest when it came to pissing. These days most public restrooms have separate urinals and even modesty screens. My sons and their friends seem to be much more modest in front of other males then boys were when I grew up. Interesting trend, anyting goes in movies, on Tv and in other entertainment, but people are becoming more modest. As far as women peeing in front of men. USed to be if my wife and I were in the middle of sex and she had to pee I would follow her to the bathroom and she would suck my cock while she sat and peed. I've actually heard that it's common for guys not to be able to pee in front of one another - kind of a performance anxiety.

I'm not into watersports or anything like it, the only time I've been pee'd on was in my experimental days, and I did this to myself. After taking in a mouthful of accidental urine, I figured out exactly why I'm not into the scene.

Some people are more comfortable than others about bodily functions. I hate to poo (yuk, I've said it, so there) when someone else is even in earshot of me, it's too embarrasing. My female flatmate however has no problem in coming into the bathroom while I'm in the shower or bath, sit on the toilet and read a magazine or conduct a conversation with me as though nothing unusual is happening. Meanwhile, I get the pleasure of the sound effects and odours. To her, we have a bond and are soulmates, but to me it's going a little to far.

I can't do it

I've had this problem with previous partners... they haven't been able to understand why I need to lock the bathroom door when I go for a pee or a dump... and if I'm in the shower and she's sat down on the loo for a pee ...
