Let me first say that my efforts to locate a story I once read here led me to JazCullen, and man, oh man, am I ever glad I found her stories!
However, I STILL can't find the series I was originally looking for.
It was in either the NonHuman or Sci-Fi/Fantasy category.
It contained vampires, elves and such...and MOST IMPORTANTLY an ifrit male who found his life-mate in a human.
The story element that sticks in my memory the most is that at some point, the woman wants to become an ifrit like her husband and in order to do so, he takes her into a volcano and while they engage in passionate sex, he and a group of others, I want to say Elder elves, provide a protection barrier around them. At the point of orgasm, the barrier was supposed to drop and allow her "humanity" to be consumed, thus changing her into a fire elemental. I recall that something went wrong during the barrier process and the woman emerges from the volcano DAYS later rather than hours later which was a significant plot point.
Can anyone PLEASE help me locate this story? If the author has removed it from Lit in order to publish it, I would gladly purchase the entire series.
