I can't remember the author or title, and multiple attempts to search have proven fruitless. This story does exist, and at one time, it was posted here. Of this much, I am certain.

Plot synopsis: A husband is persuaded by his wife to stand in as a masked dancer/stripper at a party of some sort. His daughter(s) were in attendance, and somehow, his identity was discovered. He was humiliated, incredibly unhappy with what he considered a betrayal by his wife, and feels despondent that he may never again have a good relationship with his child(ren). The fallout is that he hides himself away for some length of time (a couple weeks or months, maybe - I don't recall), until they find where he's been staying. Then there's the obligatory big talk between all the involved parties, after which, I believe the couple reunites.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

One final, desperate bump.

I'm not losing sleep over this, but it's irking the hell out of me. The story exists - or existed, at least - and there has to be someone other than me who remembers it... With any luck, they'll remember something about the author and/or title.

Please? Anyone? Bueller?

I thought "Loving Wives" was about cheating women, not humiliated men.

The category encompasses a number of topics, some of which I believe should be shunted away to their own categories (accepted cuckolding/humiliation, chief among them). In the story I seek, the husband views his wife's actions as a betrayal. She damaged not only his self-esteem, but also his faith in her, their marriage, and the relationship with his daughter. Infidelity, too, is a betrayal, and is the staple of the Loving Wives category. The common thread - betrayal by a spouse - is likely why it was listed there.

Also, for what it's worth, the humiliation felt by the husband in the story wasn't something that he was willing to accept, nor did it excite him in any way. It served as a plot device used to show how incredibly damaging the wife's actions were on him, mentally and otherwise. As I recall, it took her a while to understand just how badly she had fucked up, and his reluctance to engage with her or his daughter brought that home. Of course, by that time, the humiliation had, not unexpectedly, largely given way to shame.

I finally figured it out! Clown No More by MichaelFitzgerald. I'd fucked up some of the details, so it's no wonder no one else found it. Hell, I found it quite by accident. The good thing is that I found it. Finally, that won't be gnawing away in the back of my mind.
