So, is this the kind of place that a person can disappear for a couple of months and come back and jump right back in the saddle, have people talk to him, respond to his posts and be accepted. Or, after disappearing for a few months do you become a pariah, a newbie, a troll and not be accepted and have to work your way back up the pecking order or try to finagle your way back into a group?

It's just a question that popped into my mind tonight as I stopped into the boards for the first time in quite a while. It's not intended to be an attack, condemnation, plea for attention or any other type of post. It's just a question that if you would like to answer and think you can share an insight I'd like to hear it.

Welcoem back. pull up a chair, grab a brew and regale us with your tales of travels and experiences.

good people and real assholes are remembered for a long time i'm guessing your one of the first of the two.:)

you can always come back and jump right in.. unless your KidRock1... in which case then you get flamed until your nose bleeds..

i left for about 3 or 4 months and came back recently and have been posting like i never left at all

In many online communities, when one leaves, the fast-paced evolution of the place precludes their returning a few months later without a lot of fairly painful wriggling for place again. It's not an intentional thing but only that the cast of characters in most online places changes too rapidly to allow for any permanent-but-unoccupied niche possession.

Perhaps it's just not so at Lit.

People seem to stay here, more so than in any other online place i've called "home". People are more real here, too, less inclined to adopt a one-dimensional role and ride until it's no fun anymore and they move along. People at Lit have friends and spats and love affairs and secret admirers and it's all played out on an ever-changing - but comfortably familiar - tapestry of threads that are woven into the fabric of the place.

Therefore, if anyone in particular stops posting, the piece of the tapestry that they represent is subsumed into the rest of the richly woven cloth without a missed stitch. If they return, their thread is taken into the whole again, and immediately becomes a part of the story as if they'd never gone.

Welcome back, ManOSafety. I'm sure you were missed.

Pheonyx - Thank you, but unfortunately I have no tales of travel or adventure with which to regale you, just the ordinary events of life.

Mensa - Being welcomed back by a smartass answers the question fairly well :).

Cuz cracker - thank you, not sure why you'd be so quick to place me in your first category, but I appreciate it.

Willing - thank you

Cymbidia - Wow, very well spoken!

Of course you can come back! But only of you bring us an update on BabyOsafety first! :)

Brat

If you weren't so bratilicious I might have to spank you for being cruel to me :p

After recovering from my kisses that is :)

Man O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful surprise for tonight!!! :D How the hell have you been?!?!!??!

BabyOSafety

The BabyOSafety is now an 8 month old little girl who continues to have her father wrapped around her tiny little fingers. She is crawling and cruising and getting into every possible thing. She has also discovered the stairs and the joys of climbing them, yet another thing to watch out for, sigh.

And the cutest thing she has begun doing lately is waving. Holding up her cute little hand and curling her fingers. Sometimes she actually does it to somebody or to the dog, and of course there are those times when she just kinda does it. But it's still cute nonetheless.

I can see it:) It seems so cute

And I'm glad things are wonderful with BabyOSafety. :) Cherish these times while you can! It's hard to believe mine will be 3 once Spring rolls around!

Oh I can believe it Tiggs, my little guy will be turning five in December. He's in a K-4 class this year and loves it, but he looks so old sometimes, not like a little boy anymore. Of course, sometimes he tells me he wants to do stuff like the big kids at school. "What kids are those?" I ask. "K-5" he tells me. :D

we have not met but I remember your 'voice' here from before I registered and began posting. I am pleased to see you here again.

Welcome back to the fold :)

ManOSafety

Great to see you back. Had wondered where you were hiding from everyone.

Blushing Rose - Thanks for the welcome and for remembering :)

Renegade - Thank you and I was just hiding in my little cave.

Wow, cymbidia. You should be, like, a writer or something.

ManO - WB. Glad to hear FamilyO is well. Same old shit here. :) You missed Owen in his costume.

Hey! Welcome back, ManO! I missed you. What a great surprise to see you back. So glad to hear you and your family are doing well. Your daughter sounds like a real cutie.

Hope you'll stay awhile. *hug*

A definite draw

Yes, you missed a real treat there! Unlike some of us less fortunate ones.

damn, go to bed early and look what you miss...

Of course you can always come home to Lit, I'll always welcome you (heck, I helped raise you ;) ).

Ignore grumpy Uncle Mensa, he's upset Owen's costume was better than his. :p

Give my hugs to BabyOSaftey and KidOSafety.

Yes, ignore grumpy Mensa. He hasn't been here too long to being welcomed back himself. ;)

There. I've broken my 4444 just for you, ManOSafety. :)
