This may be a bit of a rant so forgive me but....
I can't understand why the people who write tv sitcoms still crank out that ancient and stupid joke that goes along these lines:
Char A (with exasperation): "I'm just like Charlie!"
Char B: "You're NOTHING like Charlie! Who's Charlie?"
Might have been funny the first time it was used but stop flogging a dead horse! I can't believe how many times you still see it. I just caught an old Friends episode where Rachel and Monica opened a can of bug fogging spray on the guy Danny in the basement.
Joey: "Did this guy have long hair and a beard?"
Girls: "Yeah."
Joey: "Yeah, you just fogged Danny."
Rachel: "Please. We did NOT fog Danny! Who's Danny?"
How could a self-respecting writer put this to paper?
How could a producer/director let it stay in a script?
Exactly who in the audience don't see this coming 10 minutes before it's said?
Exactly who in the audience actually thinks it's funny?!
It makes me feel like the writers/producers are treating their audience as morons.
Okay, thank you for letting me get that out of my system...
