Stories that depict rape MUST have the victim enjoying it? What kind of fucked up caveman guideline is this?

The fundamental pass criteria for non-con stories is that the victim must ultimately enjoy it. Take it up with management or do what others do - avoid the category.

Its called hypocrisy...we have a non consent section, but there must be consent

Its also a completely bogus rule, if you want rape stories they are all over the site and with the word rape in titles and tag lines..

So if the word is allowed in title and tag ask yourself, is there a rule? At least one that is even minimally enforced

For once in your life stop being a company schill, open your eyes and look around this site.

I know there are stories that break this rule, as there are that break the rule of under 18 sex.

But Lit can point to there rules if they are attacked by anti-pornography activists which exist.

Company shill? No. I just want Literotica to survive because it has most of my stories.

Non consent...as in no consent is given. equates rape

Silly people thinking those are the stories they'd find there.

Remove 'non con' from non con reluctance, leave reluctance and you now have a category that calls out the type of stories the site (allegedly) wants.

How hard would that be?

Nope, better to have things like this pop up all the time where people are confused and the answer is a bunch of toadies making themselves look foolish by not only denying what is all over this site in plain sight but acting like the person with the legit point is the one with the issue.

Raping Chay is on the top 250 story list with 1300+ favorites

If a site doesn't want rape stories it is nothing to create a program that kicks the words out of titles and tags.

If they didn't want to draw attention of porn activists why allow that word here where its easily found in a title or tag? I get it would be neat impossible to take the word out of a story, especially in context "I was raped 5 years ago" isn't a rape story. But not having it in a title or the tag would be easy to police.

As for the anti porn activists? Any story will bring those anal retentive ding bats here, take away sci fi and romance and anything here would set them off not just rapee or incest stories, but all 'dirty stories'

So your reason would have merit, if anything the site did indicated an effort on their part. There is also nothing illegal about writing rape or any type of stories in fiction so there is no concern of legal issues.

Having a rule- that for the record is almost impossible to even find written anywhere here-but then having all the alleged verbotten material everywhere and in plain site is not going to make an activist group say "Okay"....because the stories are here and in plain sight,

My point here which seems simple if people remove their lips from the sites ass is simple.

If you do not want something here, you make the effort to remove it. Things will slip through, but there is way too much 'forbidden' content here to be slipping, there is next to no effort made in screening here. Most stories removed are reported by readers or authors and then they get banned without even a look, just ah, okay, whatever.

IN this instance the simple solution as I said to EB is remove the term rape from titles and visible descriptions and take "Non consent" out of NC/R and now people will think...well I guess they don't want those stories.

I think its Lush stories that has the "Rough but consensual" category which is a good idea.

Then again LS has actual management in the sense of a staff and makes conscious efforts to police their content

Al that's here is blatant laziness and double talk "We don't allow under age" wink wink...Budding breasts, baby talk, my little pony t-shirts, wink wink.

You can put perfume on a pig, but sooner or later you can sniff out the pig.

What are y'all whining about. Of course there's a tonne of rape on Lit in various categories, but the moment you allow rape where the victim gets nothing out of it, you'll only appeal to dicks.

There are plenty of ways of writing non-con that are despicably cruel and still allow for eroticism and mutual pleasure.

So?

I understand your point, but not your vehemence. So the Site is lax and inconsistent about enforcing its content rules. So? Who cares? What harm?

Anybody who's been around here long enough and kept their eyes open should have a pretty good idea how to navigate around content restrictions. It's not that big a deal. Some people get confused because they're new or they're not paying attention. Yes, there's some ambiguity at the edges of some of the catetegories, but it's really not THAT hard to figure out.

And, sure, some stuff that crosses the margins gets in, and there are stories that were published here in the past that wouldn't pass muster now. So who cares?

I don't understand your high-horse perspective. You're one of the biggest and most vocal critics of the category police, yet here you are going on and on about Laurel's inadequate and inconsistent category policing.

What does any of it matter?

Stop insisting upon strict conformity with your own personal sense of justice here, as so many, including you, seem determined to do, and just enjoy writing and reading stories. It's more fun and it will save your mind for more worthwhile considerations.

And stop calling people names. There's no call for that regardless how well founded you think your opinion is.

There does not have to be consent. The victim must enjoy it. Two very different things. Just because someone has an orgasm or the action feels good doesn't mean it's not rape.

In my story Mom the Unwilling Slut, it goes way past any legal definition of rape, but because the mom has an orgasm and smiles it meets Lit's criteria for a non consent story.

This is the way I understand the rules. As long as there is physical pleasure consent or emotional trauma don't count.

Do you always have to be the attack dog? Show me where I've ever supported the category. I've never denied there's shit in the category, and I'd rather the category not exist, frankly, so my approach is not to go there. Your approach is to constantly berate the site for double standards, but that doesn't get anywhere either.

Why don't you give your anti-site rants a rest? Where would your book selling success be if it wasn't off the back of your profile here? Look in the mirror, mate.

Historical context: back in the Wild West days of the internet, a lot of erotica was in Usenet groups like alt.sex.stories that were completely unmoderated. Authors were expected to use story codes in the subject line so readers could choose what to click on, but beyond that, anything went. To give you some idea, here's a list of more or less standard codes for indicating anything from "consensual romance between two adults" and "snuff where one of the participants is between 13 and 17 and the other is under 13". It doesn't mean that everybody was into that content - story codes existed so that people didn't accidentally read stuff that might squick them - but the prevailing attitude was "free speech, it's all fiction".

Some categories relevant to this discussion, as described on that list:

nc: is non-consensual. This is rape in law, but the style
may be different.
rape: is rape.
reluc: Woman says no, but loves it when she is raped.
snuff: Killing which is supposed to arouse you.
tort: Torture.

They weren't kidding. If you weren't careful with tags you could find yourself reading stories about a well-known celebrity being tortured to death with power tools.

Literotica appeared in 1999, and it was spawned in that Wild West culture, with a lot of the same authors across both sites. The Lit category system is heavily influenced by the old Usenet community system, which drew that distinction between three different flavours of "rape" story.

Back in the very early days, up till 2003, Lit also had a category "Extreme" listed in the story view which included the more brutal kinds of rape stories, though I think that link pointed to a separate site set up to provide that material. Literotica got rid of the "Extreme" category altogether in 2003, and to the best of my knowledge the "victim must enjoy it at least a little bit" rule comes out of that.

IMHO it's a problematic rule, but it's worth understanding that it's not about "women love rape", it's more "we host almost everything, but not the more brutal kinds of rape stories". (Under-18 and bestiality being a couple of the other major areas that Lit decided to leave behind.)

This is where I got the title of my next story.

Scottish Government. PUBLICATION - STATISTICS

Cereal and oilseed rape harvest: 2019 final estimates

It’s set in Scotland and doesn’t include any sex but does have a Viking flashback although unfortunately, as I understand it, their headgear wasn’t actually horny.

Specify any "rule" here and there are many stories already posted that violate it.
