How do you guys do this? I get how it works in r/l but online must make it very different ...

how does the dom know the sub is doing what he/she asks or being truthful?

do u use msn/yahoo and cam, or phone, or email ... .?

I've sometimes used webcam & phone, but sometmes you can just trust the person at the other end. If they're not actually doing it, why would they even bother saying they were? I guess some people might try to 'cheat' but it would be their loss!
