Every time I startup my PC all the temporary files are deleted. This has only happened today when I discovered this morning and again this afternoon.

It's quite annoying since all my bookmarks are lost and windows media player keeps on reconfiguring itself

is this a virus?

All help would be appreciated

It could be a virus, or somehow you reconfigured some settings in your internet properties, or installed some software that auto-configured the system to delete these items on bootup.

There are some security programs that can access all these processes to delete on bootup the temp files - clean your internet cache and all cookies and password lists ,etc. They also do things to configuration files for Media Player as it stores lists of things you have played and sites you visited to listen too.

Also if you have CCleaner installed there are option in it to run on startup and also to clear the items you mentioned.
