Can moderators take action on forums that are not their own?

This forum, Lit Tech Support, and its parent, Site News and Tech Support, do not have the name of a moderator at the top of their thread list. My understanding was that that meant there was no moderator for the forum.

I was also told by someone here that "admin" referred to Manu and Laurel and "moderator" referred to some responsible for a particular forum.

So my question is, who edited my post to remove an image? Who could be "a moderator?" This is what appeared in place of the image in my post in this forum:

It's obvious that if there's no moderator listed, then the only people who could moderate it would be Admin/the owners. Especially if you were told that there could be a loss of privileges. No one but them has that power.

But, there I go again, using logic.

Limit testing? Or willful ignorance?

Either way, as it’s been said several times in the recent threads: Moderators can only take moderator action in the forums in which they are named mods.
Yes, that was my understanding. Then how was my post edited in a forum that has no moderator? That's my question. The edited message was included in my OP. It was signed "a moderator."

Then why was the essage signed "a moderator?" The only thing I can conclude is that Laurel and Manu sometimes refer to themselves as "moderator."

YES, they moderate the boards with no moderators (meaning us who are members who moderate).

No one is listed because they are in charge of that forum. That's why those forums still have a report function - and they all go to Laurel.

I
You must think admins somehow do not have moderator powers/privileges.
I think the crux of this is that whoever told me that "admins" are Laurel and Manu and "moderators" are responsible only for forums was mistaken. In this case it looks like Laurel or Manu called themselves "a moderator."

It's probably just how the forum software is designed. A moderator action is attributed to a "moderator" in a stock status message.

It refers to the action, not to the complete collection of privileges which the person may possess.

THANK YOU!!!!

You know there’s a lot of sites where you could post all manner of photos without ticking off the mods right? Like, hundreds of sites?

This place is starting to turn into Animal Farm. Anytime someone questions or criticizes a policy on here you and other mods try to silence them. I think my time on this site is finished.

Don't leave. Just ignore them.

The thing is, you guys are here at the discretion of the site owners though? This isn’t a public forum. They can do what they please. So I mean 🤷🏻‍♀️

What an odd understanding of the words "silence" and "criticize" you have 😂

There was no criticizing the policy 😂
Just a lack of understanding on how moderation works

The OP just seems to like their "Your threads" panel being filled with threads
Starting a lot of threads
