Can incest possibly be healthy?

Incest is universally frowned upon in all civilized countries. Yet, there are a fair number of stories written here about this topic that seem to embrace incest as a fascinating and appealing lifestyle. Are these stories simply fantasy? Is there any positive aspect to incest that can be advanced to incorporate it into a healthy sexual relationship?

In my professional life, I have only heard of "victims" of incest. Victimization implies lack of knowledge and/or consent. To me incest can never be justified.

I await your always interesting responses.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of incest myself. I don't find it at all appealing to me.

BUT, I prefer to allow adults to go about their business.

I met this guy online. I asked him if he fucks his sister. Don't ask me why I asked, it is a question I ask people if I get the gut feeling...He's 23, she's 21...he says he does. AND it started a long time ago, when they were young. I just sort of shrugged it off...I figured it was going on, I dropped it. It doesn't bother me, and I still talk to him. But I don't condone it.

DCL, PLEASE tell me you accidentally posted in the wrong thread! :)

I really wanted this to be a serious discussion, seriously.

On a lighter note, however, I prefer Miracle Whip to incest.

This subject has been pretty well analyzed on numerous other threads, even from a biblical perspective. One thing that is obvious to me is the great prurient interest in incest, for whatever reason, I'm not a shrink. I have written several incest stories and the feedback I got on those is about 10 times what I got on other stories. Quantity feedback but not quality. Most of the comments are like, "Can I be your Daddy?" I have written 17 chapters of an erotic novel, and the only thing missing is incest. Yep, the next chapter contains incest. That and fucking chickens which also seems to be a major turn-on for some.

FlamingoBlue I have a question for you. You are an attorney, correct? What are the incest statutes in your state? You must know of what all goes on at your local court house. Has anyone actually ever been prosecuted for incest? I'm not talking what would also be considered child molestation here. I'm talking consenting adults, perhaps like the brother and sister Sammjo mentioned.

I might ask SimplySouthern the same question and anyone else who is thoroughly familiar with legal happenings.

Well, Deb...

I'm not aware of many prosecutions for incest, but there are plenty of prosecutions for criminal sexual conduct where one of the parties is an adult and the other is a minor, unable to consent.

I tried a very complex child custody case where incest had been present in the family for several generations. After the trial there was one suicide, 2 divorces and a lawsuit by a young lady against her grandmother and her uncle. The fallout was horrendous. And these were people who were supposed to be pillars of the community. Fortunately, I live 250 miles from these people, as they blame me for exposing them.

I digress. I do not believe that sex between consenting adults in all its many forms, ie.,adultry, homosexuality, sodomy, bestiality, etc. is actively prosecuted in the bigger cities in Michigan, but I am not a criminal lawyer. As far as prosecutions for adult incest, I think that probably falls into the same category.

I think under the right circumstances, it can be beneficial. Specifically, I refer to Rolly's work entitled "Sunrise, My Darling".

That was a description of an incestuous relationship, however brief, which seems to have resulted in no harm to either party and perhaps provided her a beneficial initiation into sexual activity.

To recap briefly, she was 18, the relationship was with her uncle, it was consenting and at several junctures as she related the story, she was offered the option to proceed or stop and she chose to proceed.

To the contrary, incest may be in other cases coerced and that (coercion) is wrong whether between relatives or strangers.

Likewise, comes the very vague line of distinction regarding the 'age of consent'. This varies from person to person and the generally accepted 18 is probably as good a number as one could pick as long as it's not taken as an absolute 100% every case certainty. Some youngsters are probably mature to make that decision at 16 others never attain that maturity (witness the current resident of the oval office whose maturity is about that of a barely pubescent 13 YO).

I have been living with my sister as husband and wife
for 5 years.I do not see a problem with incest as long
as they are consenting adults.

Lars...

What factors encouraged you and your sister to decide to forsake all others for yourselves? What are your plans for your relationship?

Just curious.

Ummmm.....

I do not believe that sex between consenting adults in all its many forms, ie.,adultry, homosexuality, sodomy, bestiality, etc.

Maybe you just weren't thinking when you posted that, Flamingo.... But could you explain to us how bestiality is sex between consenting adults???

All she said was, "Baaaa", but I could tell just how badly she was wanting it.....

LOL... Sorry, couldn't pass it up.

Ugh!

Incest is Bad! Very Bad! See my other thread for more detail. Everything turned out fine btw, we did talk and agreed to erase it from the record. I'm still a bit creepy about being around him.

There's my 2 cents.

Well Flamingo are parents, sister and a lot of other friends
had goting a divorce. I said as a joke maybe we should
get together. Well 2 months later we moved across the
country had 2 kids and are very happy.

Lars, what was the reaction of the rest of your family to this arrangement? I'm assuming you, having moved across the country, haven't told your current group of friends, etc. How old are your children? Do they know/or what will you tell them in the future?

I really have no clue about what I am talking about here but I wish someone would enlighten me. What is the possibility of genetic damage somewhere down the line with these children or future generations in a situation like this? Lars, is this something you have investigated? I would appreciate any input from those in medical professions on this board regarding this. There are lots of hillybilly jokes about this subject and I'm just wondering what the real story is.

I heard somewhere, Debz, that the Egyptian Pharaohs died out because of inbreeding. I don't know it that's true but you might find answers down that line.

Well Lasher....

If you notice, I was talking about "bestiality", not "beastiality". Bestiality is sex with the best looking, most personally attractive member of the opposite sex who just happens to be between the ages of 94 and 116 years old.

It is a very obscure word not often used except when you are very tired and when you lack a spell-checker, as I do with this piece of crap webtv thingee that my computer genius son told me to buy because I am computer illiterate.

I don't think it's just in erotic fiction that incest is "popular". Anyone ever read any Virginia Andrews' books? They're full of it - brothers and sisters, uncles and nieces,... one guy rapes his step-daughter, gets her pregnant, and her daughter falls in love with her uncle. He gets her pregnant, then her daughter falls in love with her cousin/half brother (her aunt and her mother's husband had an affair) but when they find out her uncle was really her father, they all live happily ever after.

Is it true that "Flowers in the Attic" was based on a true story?

I think incest in one of the last taboos in society - the appeal of the forbidden.

Deborah, we have one brother who won`t talk to us but
thats fine didn`t like him anyway. The rest of our family
is fine with it.As for our kids they are 4 and 2 and
we are going to tell them when thay are older. Our friends
we have not told exept for one who are all so brother and
sister in there 70`s with 8 kids and 11 grandchildren all
complety healthy.

Whatever the reason I find incest to be a crime of the desperate. How sad is it that the only human love connection is your own relatives. I can bet that your children will suffer for the choice you have made. Say what you will the majority of people do not want to have their children marry an inbred bastard. You are not married as it is illegal in all the states. You have automatically placed a stigma on your children. I think this is selfish and sick. You are also playing the genetic equivalent of craps. No family is without genetic flaws and your chances of this happening more frequently in your relationship is higher then average. What if your children decide to marry? What then? I find this type of thing so sad and so sick.

Anything that could cause a higher chance in birth defects and retardation is not a good idea. I know first cousins who are married, and one of their children makes Forrest Gump look like Albert Einstein, another child they have has a serious birth defect. They have one seemingly normal child but who's to say how that kid will grow up. I am not saying that all children of incest will be born with problems but the chances are much higher.

I have been living with my brother for 29 years so you are
not alone.I would just like to say incest is a lot
more comman then you all think.
