Fetish does mean to sexualize something that is not innately sexual, such as objects.
I would have to agree that, to me, it's not so that an object is sexy but that it illicits sexual feelings. Seeing a desk or being in a hot tub and thinking of a fantasy. It's more about what that object can represent to a person as opposed to it actually being sexy.
