The community college my son Clay was enrolling for summer credit held a Saturday afternoon campus orientation requiring our attendance. Clay wanted to go with his friends - Shawn, Ricky, and the one I couldn't;t stand the most - Billy. rather than being seen arriving with his mom.
I was almost 30 mins late due to it taking me longer than I planned to style my hair. to look it's best with my outfit.
Clay wanted to walk with his friends. So I simply said, "Fine" and told him he could... and that I would walk with him. Obviously from the look on my son's face, he hadn't thought about that. When he began with "But, Mom..." I simply interrupted him by telling him right in front of the other boys, "Young man, you have a choice. Walk with me at the front of the group or you can straggle in back with your friends, but I'm joining you."
Needless to say, throughout the campus tour, our guide - tall, tan broad shouldered and blonde - had me in his eye. Naturally I acted like I was unaware.
