In November there is National Novel Writing Month and quite a few people gatheres to do it here. April is Camp WriMo! Same as normal NaNoWriMo but you can decide your word count and make cabins and...it is a good way to push yourself and your writing.

Anyone doing this? Want to? Figure we can have a suport group here for word brags and sob stories.

You can also use it to write entries for the themed contests on Literotica, or just to list all the possible story ideas you might use in NaNoWriMo itself.

I did that in 2003. I had roughed out ideas for 36 chapters of what became the 12 chapters of linked stories as Flawed Red Silk.

For that year I decided to make my NaNoWriMo challenge more difficult. I wanted to write the 30,000 words, edit them, and have the whole 12 chapters posted on Literotica before the end of the NaNoWriMo month. I did it. Thank you, Laurel for reasonably fast posting of each chapter.

The result, unchanged since the first posting is Flawed Red Silk, is still posted.

I'm considering it, although the last couple of times I signed in for them, I barely made it out of the starting gate. I may have a bit more time this April.

I think I will give it a go. I will use it to push myself to write the sequel to my halloween story Abigail

I just signed up and got assigned to a random cabin. I'm going to use the time to make revisions to the first draft I wrote in November.

I'll come play with you if you want to make a cabin GoldenMaia :D

I will even play teh sci-fi game you mentioned in anotehr thread :)

I'll be doing it but not with a Lit story. At least, I don't think it's a Lit story, but then again . . . who know where it will go?

First day in, I got a couple thousand in, had the day off. Did a little work on refining a novel idea and wrote on my Summer Lovin story. All in all, a good writing day.

I'm in. It's been a few years since I did nano (I won, but never finished the story), and I've never done camp nano.

Getting words out isn't an issue. I've penned nearly 125,000 words in the last six weeks. Finishing stories is the problem.

I have a story I started but didn't finish for the April Fools contest. It was intended to be a little three page story about a prank, and is now nearly 42,000 words and counting, with no end in sight. I also have the final chapter of The First Time I Noticed to complete. That's also growing out of control and is nearing 8,500 words. That could easily double in size or more before it's done.

Both of these need to be finished, revised, and posted. But, since I don't think either task should take more than a week, I'm adding an additional challenge, which is to complete a third non-lit story I have partially done. That was also intended to be a three chapter short story and is past 10,000 words also with no end in sight.

That's my goal for Camp. Finish three stories that are all already in progress.

I think that's an excellent goal for Camp. As Chuck Wendig says, you've got to finish shit. I'm paraphrasing, of course.

I've decided to pass, I can't say that I have any real goals with it this time around. My writing is flowing well. I'm in that zone where I'm writing something fun and frivolous to put up to sell, then going back to a long running dark piece for a week then back to fun again with no issues.

I binge write so words is never an issue, so at this point the camp/cabin trying to set some specific goal may be more distraction than help.

Good luck to all here who are involved with it. Its an awesome tool and provides great motivation, but I've done it a bunch of times and don't see the need this time. Maybe that will chnage come regular nano in November
