Hello, Sparky. I've read many of your threads, but I believe we haven't "met" before. Now's as good a time as any to be formally introduced. Nice to meet you. How ya doin? Are you a Brooklyn guy too?

Yep, I'm a Brooklyn gal (no accent, though). I live in Bay Ridge. It's pretty nice here. We've got good shopping, nice restaurants, and at Christmastime the houses are lit up so brightly they can probably be seen from the space shuttle. I couldn't ask for anything more -- except for more parking, we never have enough of that, lol.

If you don't have an accent - only two things right - you didn't grow up there or - you level of education was up toward the highest of levels available in Brooklyn.

So where you really from?

Bay Ridge? That's Queens right? Not really Brooklyn? You a Mafia girl. That might explain the education. Did you grow up with nuns? Bet you did. Maybe they spanked the accent out of you?

I have a southern accent - not too deep south and not too red-neck like. Actually kinda just - educated white-boy right. No kidding Jimmy Carter sounds like a major farm boy compared to me.

I live on the Upper East side - and don't think hoighty toighty (wouldn't know how the fuck spell that) either.

You're close, Sparky. No accent because my mom practically beat it out of me. She believed a Brooklyn accent was a handicap, so she came down hard on me if I said "batroom" instead of "bathroom". I did go to Catholic school, but my mom was way tougher than any nun. In fact, she used to fight with the nuns, and win. So I speak the Queen's English and I sound like her -- and she's Canadian, lol.

I'm no Mafia girl, but there's a loan shark living four doors down from me. Is that close enough?

I once asked him how business was, thinking that technology and the internet had stripped him of some - but no - he says the people he deals with don't have computers for the most part and that his business was better than ever.

A couple of years ago he had a "serious tumor" problem - and being that he's pretty low on the Mob totum pole he had no money for the operation. But he's been good for them for years - the bug guys came to the hospitol and paid everything - cash!

He's really a pretty nice guy. He makes the rounds of the neighborhood, he knows everybody - even knows that my wife and I had a kid - hell, he's met the kid. A real salesman.
