But where did it go so awfully wrong for NZ?

3-4 years ago, the US/Canada/UK/ and many others saw NZ under Jacinda as seen as the beacon that the entire World should aspire to.

Yet now, it's on the radar of the Human Rights commission,
given that the rates of child poverty and homelessness have more than doubled over the last 3-4 years.



The prevailing comments that I see online are in the line of
either : Jacinda is strong at PR but has no substance
or "she carried a heavy burden due to the burden 'Nationals' left her"

I started disliking her the moment she wore a hijab, kissed a muslim and i-hopped the Haka. And then went on and on about how Govts should "care" for it's stressed citizens.
By contrast, many White kiwis loved her for that, they saw it as an olive branch.

Sources from Au/NZ talk about a shocking nosedive in her popularity. Whites abd Browns included.
The Human Rights commission is on her case too, due to a doubling in homelessness and child poverty under her watch.

Trump and Jacinda got elected on the basis of an extreme populist discourse.
Trump: "freedom seeker", Jacinda: "I care".
In their initial stages,
rump appealed to many who are suspicious of PCnness, Jacinda to many who liked civilized discourse.

Fast-forward four years later, they both messed up their countries.

What stands out tho, is the HUGE DIFFERENCE in the manner in which they are being treated by 90% of the international Massmedia.
Trump -- everything villified, anything good (like avoiding a ww3 in Syria) swept under the carpet
Jacinda --- still sanctified, the bad swept under the carpet or deflected from.

WHY?

Don't get me wrong, I agree that Trump was FAR worse than Jacinda, but the difference in attitudes is striking.

A history that I simply don't have the time to explain to someone who clearly has zero interest in nuance and, like every other GB user, just 'debates' by moving on to the next talking point.
Unlike you, I actually know quite a bit about these particular things. You know, stuff that's based on actual reading, not grabbing a few random headlines and making some half-arsed on conclusion on that basis. You have literally zero idea what you're talking about.
