I've restarted doing the Poetry Recommendations. Hope I can keep it going! Does anyone fancy joining me on a roster basis? Also should I have left a link (which they'll hopefully follow!) and does the usual link work in comments?

So, it's about putting a link here and a short comment of what stands out among the newly published poems - even from an amateur's view?

Yes you have to read the lot of New poems, then post what you recommend for readers and just a snippet saying why, and you need to be able to link properly. Also leave a comment on the poems you recommend saying Mentioned in Poetry Recommendations..

I learned to love the poems mostly by meeting and being helped by other authors and visiting here. Returning that favour sounds tempting. In two or three weeks my elsewhere's workload should drop to some point to actually do this...

...no need to sign for with one's own blood?

I agree recommendations help both the author and PFD and appreciate your recent flurry. Please add me to your roster.

Super! I can't remember how they used to work the roster before but would you like to do the next change of poems (should be on the 8th October I think)?

If I remember correctly, they basically divvied up the week and each person was responsible for checking out and making recommendations for any poems from those that published on "their" day.

I'm sure Ange would know more about it.

That's exactly what we did. We had people who committed to a day of the week, and that was their day to read all the new poems posted that day, recommend poems they found noteworthy in the new poems thread and let poets know when their poems were recommended here on the forum (with a link provided).

The reviews serve two purposes: 1) they draw our attention here to new poems and; 2) they let new poets know about our forum. Many new folks have no idea there's a poetry forum at Lit. And new poets joining in here is good for the forum!

Currently, it looks like poems are published once, maybe twice a week. Maybe cycling through a list of names would do?

Sounds good, but if as UYS indicated poem are only added periodically, might it not be better to assign each person a number and have the person who is "it' look over new poem on his turn, with the next person taking the next lot, etc with a the cycle reverting to Number 1 when all have had a go?

Yes, I agree that either of these approaches should work well. I realize new poems haven't been posted daily for some time. Was just giving the history of our recommendations. 🙂

I think it's great you all are reviving the reviews. Wish I were in a better situation so I could help out too.

Once a week should do if Piscator is ok with doing the next lot. Poems are taking longer to be accepted now, I've had a couple in Pending for 10 days now.

Angeline does a link for this forum show up as such in a comment on the poem?

Yes links work there, too. Well they used to, probably still do.

I would only put a link in my comment if the poet was a name I didn't recognize as someone who frequented our forum. Obviously if someone is commenting on a poem written by Tzara or Piscator or you, for example, there's no need to link to the new poems thread.

Nearly all the new poems are people I don't recognise!!

Looks like a LOT (thirty-six in the last two days) to go through today. Call for help if you need support, Piscator.

Thank you to Piscator for doing the New Poems but I do think you've mixed my poems up. The link you've posted takes me to Tales of the Sea which you've renamed Excitement! My second poem is called Excitement Through Our Crazy Scheme and it isn't 2/3s of a Sestina but a Dryden's Roundelay!!

I know I haven't been the most active forum member in quite some time, but I'll put my name on the roster. Just let me know what day my week starts. :)

Do we have someone for this week (Oct 12 to 18th)? If not, I would start my Sunday early with caffeine enhanced concentration...

I can't handle it this week, and since it doesn't look like we have anyone official to do it, and you're able to do it on Sunday, I say do it, and I'll look forward to seeing what you recommend. :)

Then I will happily - and pretty unofficially - recommend something.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
