See if you can get Happy Valley over there. Maybe BBC America? It's up there with The Fall and Luther. Gritty, disturbing and amazing acting. There are just the two seasons.

Watch it!

Luther is the best! Love it. On another note, pretty formula but, does anyone like Foyles War? I am wondering if it portrays England accurately during the war with regard to corruption and so forth? He is like the British Columbo.

Never watched that one cos I thought it looked a bit 'gentle' to me. Sunday night viewing type stuff!

Luther is a brilliant character but I think the Catherine Cawood character in Happy Valley is up there with Mirren's Jane Tennison for me.

Why do I have the feeling there won't be much happiness in that valley....
I'll start it tonight.

We recently watched River. Fucking brilliant.

I will check it out.

Yes, I have seen most if not all of it.

I've seen season 1 and it wasn't too bad. Same writers as the Scott & Bailey series I believe. I'll have to check out season 2.

Not the same caliber as Luther or The Fall though.

Have you watched The River?

I watched the first couple of eps but I didn't love it.

I think I like HV so much because it's not set in bloody London. There is life after Watford. ;)

I'm in a show hole right now. If it's on Netflix I will definitely check it out. Actually, I'll do that right now. I need to de-stress.

Look for the "Last Tango in Halifax". No matter how screwed up your family is, this bunch will make you feel better.

Line of Duty. Season three finished last night. Bloody stressful and gripping. See if it's on your netflix or BBC America.

Brilliant drama.

come on, now, luv - you've got corrie, emmerdale, geordie shaw, james herriot.... *ducks*

still not seen HV yet but i plan to. The A Word was good, too, but from the clips i've seen of HV it's pretty intense.

I'd rather poke me eyes out than watch them!

HV and LOD are the best since Luther and The Fall. Gritty and disturbing.

I never really understood how the Brits could so consistently turn out top shelf drama's yet such crappy comedies.

Ishmael

Sarah Lancashire is amazing. She's smart, tough and sensitive all at once and you just know that she'll be great to share a cuppa with.
Great drama.

Yeah, if only we could come up with such side splitters as Who's the Boss? and Joanie Loves Chachie. Not to mention the stellar US remakes of Fawlty Towers and Coupling.
