"A Northern California mosque that was targeted in a vandalism hate crime found itself at the center of controversy this week after an imam delivered a sermon with inflammatory remarks about Jews.

In January, a woman shattered half a dozen windows at the Islamic Center, destroyed two bicycles and draped strips of uncooked bacon on a door handle. The woman was sentenced to five years’ probation after pleading guilty to the vandalism and admitting to a hate crime allegation.

Shahin’s July 21 sermon set off a firestorm of criticism after a videotaped excerpt was translated and distributed. In the sermon’s final prayer, Shahin said in Arabic:
“Oh Allah, liberate the Al Aqsa Mosque from the filth of the Jews … Oh Allah, count them one by one and annihilate them down to the very last one.”

Shahin’s words were roundly criticized by local and national Jewish leaders. A few of them wrote a complaint to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
A statement by Shahin and the Islamic Center board said the sermon has been misconstrued. Moving forward, Shahin said Friday that he intends to improve his relationships with leaders of other faiths.

Rabbi Seth Castleman of Davis thanked Shahin for his words and asked him to follow through with actions. He said he and other Jewish and Muslim religious leaders spent four hours Thursday looking to hash things out, and they found that “we agree far more than we disagree.”

He sparked controversy 3 weeks ago. Try to keep up.

The recent incident re the synagogue in Sidney reminded me of this incident.

My point was: anglo- saxon massmedia are focusing mainly on Islam
(R wing publications with islamophobic messages,
L wing media condemning islamophobia).

While the other important minority, one which is so intrinsically linked to our cultural heritage, is forgotten.

Anti- semitism is on the rise (and I'm not targetting the more radicalized muslims, because one sees amongst atheist. just as well) , yet this phenomenon is barely mentioned by massmedia.

Busybody posts one thread about the poor jews and now the dumb dumb goat fucker has found a new topic to butcher. When will he learn that he's just not that smart?

This interesting article argues that anti- semitism is more covert, yet more pervasive on the Left than on the Right political spectrum:

"The left-liberalism that has dominated colleges and universities since the 1960s is convinced progress and social justice can only be achieved by tearing down the “artificial” barriers of humanity. (Of course, in practice, it’s only the religious, ethnic, and national barriers of the Western and Judeo-Christian traditions that are worthy of assault.)

"Intersectionality.” This phony postmodern concept describes the interconnected nature of “oppressive systems.”

I remember that you once described the same phenomenon AJ, but from the perspective of a Christian.
Interesting to read Alan Dershowitz's perspective. I personally don't agree with his tone, but I think that we all noticed these things, albeit in milder forms:

"What do the terrorist group Hamas and the anti-violence group Black Lives Matter have in common?
What does the Islamic Republic of Iran, which throws gays off rooftops, have in common with gay rights activists? What do feminists have in common with radical Islamic sexists who support the honor killing and genital mutilation of women?

Nothing of course. Unless you subscribe to the pseudo-academic concept of intersectionality.
Intersectionality — the radical academic theory, which holds that all forms of social oppression are inexorably linked — has become a code word for anti-American, anti-Western, anti-Israel and anti-Semitic bigotry.

Nowhere has adoption of this radical paradigm been more pronounced than on college campuses where, in the name of "identity politics" and "solidarity," intersectionality has forced artificial coalitions between causes that have nothing to do with each other except a hatred for their fellow students who are "privileged" because they are white, heterosexual, male and especially Jewish."
