That's the buzz around Hollyweird -- no more Reality shows, no more fluffy mindless entertainment.

Well, not so much. There will always be crap like "Charles in Charge" and "Jerry Springer", but the trend is definitely away from mind-numbing entertainment.

I was talking to someone at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association who told me that the cable companies at next Spring's convention in New Orleans will be looking to schedule more prestige programming. Networks and Cable Providers are predicting an increased audience interest in programming of an interntational nature, and a dearth of interest in bad fluff (as opposed to good fluff, which will always be around -- MGM musicals did great during WWII).

So, the Reality Show trend will most likely come to a dead hault before Christmas.

Damn. Just when they'd booked Jesus and Satan for 40 days on "Temptation Island". Now they're going to have to go back to fighting over who gets the center box on "Hollywood Squares".

I hate realitiy TV. But what I hate more is stagged reality TV. Like the Murder in Small Town X. I was actually looking forward to seeing that one. But after watching one episode, it became painfully clear that the 'real people' were working from compltly designed scripts, on what they were allowed to say, and not. Now, I understand to do something like a huge murder mystery, you have to set a script for the 'in the know' ones. But couldn't they have at least hired people who knew HOW to act, and make it LOOK natural?

Every townsperson and suspect they talked to sounded like they were reading from a teleprompter, and not actually talking, and havinga conversation. -shudders-

I, for one, will not be upset to see them all leave!

I hate reality programming & never watch it. I did see a story on one of the entertainment shows that the man who won the money in "Murder in Small Town X" is one of the firemen who is missing in the attack on the WTC. He was last seen attempting to help fellow fire fighters trapped in the building.
