Kinzinger was trying to convince the IL legislature not to redistrict him out of his seat. Try as he might, selling his soul for a chance to cling to power, they gave hin the hard goodbye.

Probably not. He and another Republican incumbent were both redistricted into the same district, and that district leans red. So he'd have been fine if he survived the primary, but you can guess what the chances are in a GOP primary for a guy who stood up to Trump once.

You're right. There is no longer a place for honest, men of principles who put country over party and won't swear fealty to a deranged orange dictator who only cares about himself.

This is true, and it makes me sad. Remember I was once a Republican myself, and was proud to support men of principle like Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, Reagan and George Bush. People like "Dmitri" (our resident Russian sock puppet) don't deserve good, honest, principled politicians because they clearly don't WANT that. Only the most corrupt, callous, selfish, bigoted and self-serving polticians are good enough for them.

I can't imagine anyone believes he'll be a serious threat there. No one that anti-Trump has a prayer in a GOP primary.

Redistricting made his district more Dem, plus he was getting primaried by a real firecracker of a challenger. Kinzinger didn't even want to face anyone in the primary, so he cried like a little bitch and slunk off.
